After the King suffers a humiliating defeat, it is left to young Sir Henry Samuel to save the beleaguered English army from complete disaster, but it is not with a cost. As usual, it is the men of the north who pay the price for a King's mistakes.

Wonderful historical details woven into an entertaining story

A new generation of an honorable family fights the many battles of medieval England. Castles are built and destroyed; lives are saved and lost. Even if our hero is a little too perfect, it's still a fun listen. The reader's voice is spot on.
Historical fiction like this should serve as a classroom textbook. How much more fun could our history class have been!

If you enjoy the historical fiction category, in general, or Bernard Cornwell, in particular, I highly recommend Griff Hosker’s Border Knight Series to you. I enjoyed very single book & all Earl Thomas’s & Baron William’s adventures!!!
