Terrific Read!

Thoroughly enjoyed this tale of 1855 in pre-civil war America! Victoria Murata creates a delightful & suspenseful tale full of racial, gender & cultural diversity, female voting rights, spiritual insights & romance building to a remarkable crisendo...keeps moving...hard to stop reading/listening. The reader in the audio version does an excellent presentation of all the many diverse characters. Loved it!

Captivating Novel

I truly enjoyed reading as I listened to the audio of this most enjoyable book. It was well-written and kudos to the author for introducing and resolving all the antagonists throughout the novel. One portion I found to be out of place was the section about the two women being in love with each other. I strongly doubt those situations would have taken place in 1855, let alone the open discussions about it. It felt like it was a "soapbox" for our time period, which detracted from the story and should have been left out. Otherwise, the book was captivating and held my interest throughout.

Beautifully narrated

Kaileen Wolfe did an amazing job narrating, capturing the dialect of 1855 Oregon perfectly. The story was absolutely captivating.

A major disappointment The author ruin the story by trying to Incorporate Either political or personal points of view that Distracted from the story rather than added to it Again I was very disappointed
