Welcome to Alienn, Arkansas where the aliens from outer space hide in plain sight at the Big Bang Truck Stop.

Gage Gage Grey is happily buried in his lab when folks in Alienn, Arkansas, suddenly start falling—literally—asleep and can’t be woken up. The big brain of the Grey clan better solve this problem in a hurry, because the seven-year Earth Colony inspection is looming. If everyone is asleep when the inspection team arrives, that might be the end of the Big Bang Truck Stop, abovestairs and below.

A trained pilot, Charlotte Westbrook has worked hard to earn respect in her role as a science officer for the Technician Class Technology Institute on Alpha-Prime. She’s puzzled but intrigued when she’s diverted from a mission to go to the Earth Colony—and not unhappy at all to work with a handsome fellow scientist. As Gage and Charlotte get closer to finding a cure, evidence starts to pile up against her. Now, not only do they have to heal the sick Alphas, they have to find out who the real villain is. Because Gage minus sweet, smart Charlotte is one equation he refuses to solve.

Enchanting and fun. With a mystery. Very enjoyable read. Only thing that bothered me a little was the English accent of all the female Alphas from Alpha Prime lol. That’s a bit much .

Enchanting

I have listened to all the books in this series and they are mostly pretty good. Enough like Nocturne Falls to be satisfying, especially if I'm listening while doing something else. There have been a few things about the series that I didn't like, for example, it seems like people are at risk of being sent to prison for the least little thing (like breaking a marriage contract or quitting your job without notice) –– that's not cozy. Up until now, I have been able to ignore those things.

This book took everything I didn't like about the series and put it all in one story, plus, the main characters keep doing really stupid stuff. Like getting weird instructions but not following up to make sure everything is correct. Or continuing to talk to someone about the law who has no reason to be getting that kind of information. So frustrating. Finally at about 4 hours in, the stupidity level got too high and I gave up.

BJ Harrison gave his usual excellent performance, but no amount of skilled narration could save this mess.

I don't know if Fiona Roarke is unable to be creative enough to produce more than 1 plot, love at first sight & eventual happily ever after. But there has been extremely little variation in any of the books in this series.
It started off cute! But when the author recycled the same plot over & over again, it just got old.
Couple that with B.J. Harrison's inability to keep specific character voices consistent and it made the second half of this series a complete slugfest trying to finish.
I was initially interested in listening to other books in the Nocturne Falls universe. I may still after taking a much needed break from the repetitiveness in these stories. My hope is that since the other books in this universe are written by different authors that they may be more creative.
Unfortunately, they all use the same narrator as this batch. While he has a good voice and might do well with a continuous series, he can't keep track of specific people's voices when transitioning into another 1 off story within the same overall universe.
It seems like he designates a voice for a male & female MC & sticks with it. That would work if the MC's didn't change in each book, as in these stories, while keeping previous MC's as side characters in the new books. Since this is exactly how this series worked, the narrator failed horribly in his only job.
Time to listen to some LITRPG or magic to return to my happy place with authors & narrators who have yet to let me down...

Meh...
