We rely on willpower to create change in our lives...but what if we're thinking about it all wrong? In Willpower Doesn't Work, Benjamin Hardy explains that willpower is nothing more than a dangerous fad-one that is bound to lead to failure. Instead of "white-knuckling" your way to change, you need to instead alter yoursurroundings to support your goals. This book shows you how.

The world around us is fast-paced, confusing, and full of distractions. It's easy to lose focus on what you want to achieve, and your willpower won't last long if your environment is in conflict with your goals--eventually, the environment will win out. Willpower Doesn't Workis the needed guided for today's over-stimulating and addicting environment. Willpower Doesn't Work will specifically teach you:

  • How to make the biggest decisions of your life--and why those decisions must be made in specific settings
  • How to create a daily "sacred" environment to live your life with intention, and not get sucked into the cultural addictions
  • How to invest big in yourself to upgrade your environment and mindset
  • How to put "forcing functions" in your life--so your default behaviors are precisely what you want them to be
  • How to quickly put yourself in proximity to the most successful people in the world--and how to adapt their knowledge and skills to yourself even quicker
  • How to create an environment where endless creativity and boundless productivity is the norm

Benjamin Hardy will show you that nurture is far more powerful than your nature, and teach you how to create and control your environment so your environment will not create and control you.

What if I had been beating myself up for years for no reason? "I' don't have the work ethic." "I'm lazy, undriven." "I don't have the drive." "I don't have what it takes, I'm not good enough". What if It were none of those things? What if I was put into far from optimal, even seriously net negatively productivity environments?
This book changed my life and the way I looked at myself. It caused me to question the deeply rooted shame in myself that caused me to believe I was a hardwired failure. I can't stress enough how important the idea that this book has conveyed to me that helped the way I look at myself. Maybe I'm not inherently a failure and that if I just reshape my habits, my thought process, and my environment, I can become 100x more productive. (Not an exaggeration). Maybe I can go to college, and complete college. Though practical life engineering. By cleaning up my life in a real way.

I've read many self help books and the two great flaws most of them share is this: 1. Filler; Taking a decent idea and stretching it 200 pages (it drags). 2: It's full of guru mumbo jumbo. ("YOU HAVE TO WANT IT AS BAD AS YOU WANT AIR ((What??)))
This book doesn't have either of those problems. It's to the point, backed by science, and has intensely valuable practical application. This book ranks in my top 2, and honestly, it might be number 1.

Like Napoleon Hill's classic "Think And Grow Rich", this title will be remembered as a modern day phenomenon. Benjamin Hardy has brilliantly deconstructed the elements of change and personal growth in an easy and digestible way. His primary thesis, shaping your environment directly shapes your life, may sound simplistic at first, but its truth reigns supreme and its results speak for themselves.

The modern reader / listener will find, not only a plethora of effective "life changing" strategies, but also inspiring suggestive techniques that really help drive home the point, your environment is key in self transformation.

The book is well written, the narrator does an amazing job keeping the listener engaged and I highly recommend giving this title a try.

Shape your environment.....Shape your life!!

Take advantage of this $2.95 daily deal. Use the 1.25x speed to get the momentum going if you KNOW you want to change a few things in your life.
You can slow it 1x speed when you hit a key point YOU know will work for you.
I feel you can not change everything all at once, but I know you can change at least one element in your life if you establish the steps to get there, and importantly a means of measurement.
If you are a person who sets new goals for themselves to change an element in your life, then this book is a simple means to get the tactical steps you may need.
These are simple but not easy steps for some people, and I am glad to have the new audio chapter content listed on our downloads. This makes it easy to go back and re listen to certain helpful chapters eg chapters 6 and 7 for me.
I for one can not rely on willpower any more as I get too many highs and lows when I succeed but also take a step back when willpower is not enough.
I feel if you get at least 2-3 steps to pave the way to your goal, then the $2.95 was a steal!

I had to get past Hardy’s speaking style, but it actually helped to slow the book down to .75 speed. Once I did that I couldn’t wait to get in the car and listen. This book has already changed my life.

I found this to be motivating in assessing where in my life there were prolonged slumps. As a person who had been stuck in a job I grew to dislike for over a decade, I found this helpful and insightful.
