Ruth Cohn understands

There is a silent epidemic of neglected children in America. I mean a lot to me to finally understand my narrative and know that someone understands. I have understood from previous work that "it" didn't start with me. I had learned to have compassion for my teenaged parents, and I feel more compassion for myself.

Personally and professionally helpful

As a child of neglect myself and a therapist in training I found the concepts and stories laid out in this book personally healing/affirming as well as professionally stimulating!

The sample said all you needed to hear

I thought the author said she created an outline, but chapters seem homogenous and without distinction throughout the book. I frequently referred to the chapter titles to remind myself what she was supposed to be talking about.... it all sounded the same, repeating catch phrases and even whole thoughts over and over. The editor should be fired as well. I feel cheated; I heard all I needed to hear from the sample. The narrator did a fine job though.
