Lily and Romeo decipher her mother’s message and end up back on the road - this time heading to Mexico and a potion witch with a few secrets of her own. The witch, having made some bad deals, is in trouble herself.

What could be harder for Alison than hunting magical beasties? Meeting Mason’s parents. Now she knows what Mason felt like meeting her father. Well, that was James Brownstone, so...maybe not. No time to ponder impressing the parents anyway - she has other issues to deal with. Sonya’s father has reappeared, seeking their help. But will they? Some evil never learns. Also, Raine and her friends encounter a witch with a strange necklace in the kemana. When she invites them to a meeting of a secret society, things get interesting - quick.
