"Red Nails" is one of the books featuring Conan the Cimmerian (a.k.a Conan the Barbarian) written by American author Robert E. Howard. "A Witch Shall Be Born" is one of the original novels by Robert E. Howard about Conan the Cimmerian (a.k.a. Conan the Barbarian). The story concerns a witch replacing her twin sister as queen of a city state, which brings her into conflict with Conan who had been the captain of the queen's guard. Themes of paranoia, and the duality of the twin sisters are paramount in this story but it also includes elements of the conflict between barbarism and civilization that is common to the entire Conan series.

"Glinda of Oz" is the fourteenth "Land of Oz" book written by L. Frank Baum, published in 1920. It is the last book of the original Oz series. Like most of the Oz books, the plot features a journey through some of the remoter regions of Oz; though in this case the pattern is doubled: Dorothy and Ozma travel to stop a war between the Flatheads and Skeezers; then Glinda and a cohort of Dorothy's friends set out to try to rescue them... Wonderful, eccentric, moving and funny as always!

"The Lost Princess of Oz" begins with the disappearance of Princess Ozma, the ruler of Oz and covers Dorothy and the Wizard's efforts to find her. The introduction to the book states that its inspiration was a letter a little girl had written to Baum: "I suppose if Ozma ever got hurt or losted, everybody would be sorry..." Well, everyone is indeed sorry; and doing their utmost to find Ozma... find out if they do in this ravishing piece of entertainment!

"Shadows in the Moonlight" is starring the sword and sorcery hero Conan the Cimmerian (a.k.a. Conan the Barbarian). The story is set in the pseudo-historical Hyborian Age and concerns Conan escaping to a remote island in the Vilayet Sea where he encounters the Red Brotherhood, a skulking creature, and mysterious iron statues. Oh, and there's also a slave girl named Olivia, once a princess of Koth, to keep Conan company on the island.

This is the original story that would later become "Alice in Wonderland". The journey began at Folly Bridge in Oxford and ended 3 miles northwest in the village of Godstow. During the trip, Lewis Carroll told the three young daughters of his friend a story that featured a bored little girl named Alice who goes looking for an adventure. The girls loved it, and one of them, Alice Liddell, asked Dodgson to write it down for her. On 26 November 1864, he gave Alice the handwritten manuscript of "Alice's Adventures Under Ground".

"The Machine Stops" is a sci-fi story by E. M. Forster, first published in 1909. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity lives underground and relies on a giant machine to provide their needs. The story predicted new technologies such as instant messaging and the Internet.

"Wet Magic" is a children's novel by E. Nesbit, published in 1913. Four siblings travel to the seashore for a holiday. One of them accidentally summons the sister of a mermaid, captured by a circus; and the four children decide to try and save her... What follows is a fantastic and adventurous ride, full of challenges for the children in the underwater world of the mermaids!

"The Sign of the Broken Sword" features Chesterton's famous characters Father Brown, and former criminal Flambeau. The story revolves around the mysterious death of General Sir Arthur St. Clare; hanged on a tree with his broken sword hung round his neck... How will Father Brown go about trying to solve this case? Wonderfully intelligent and exciting!

"Rinkitink in Oz" is the tenth wonderful book of the Land of "Oz" series written by L. Frank Baum. The full and extended title says a bit about what's going on in this enchanting and more than slightly mad world: "Rinkitink in Oz: Wherein is Recorded the Perilous Quest of Prince Inga of Pingaree and King Rinkitink in the Magical Isles that Lie Beyond the Borderland of Oz". As always with the Oz audio books, the listener gets fully enveloped by the wonderfully strange surroundings and the equally strange and wonderful (not always, though!) persons.

"The Magic of Oz" relates the terrible attempt of the Munchkin boy Kiki Aru and former Nome King Ruggedo to conquer Oz... The terribly long, complete title of the book says it all, but not really... as always with L. Frank Baum, the magic is in the wonderful, eccentric and never-ending details!

"Ozma of Oz", published in 1907, was the third book of L. Frank Baum's Oz series. It was the first in which Baum was clearly intending a series of Oz books. The full and very long title of the work gives the listener a good idea of what pure delights to expect: "Ozma of Oz: A Record of Her Adventures with Dorothy Gale of Kansas, Billina the Yellow Hen, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodsman, Tik-Tok, the Cowardly Lion and the Hungry Tiger; Besides Other Good People too Numerous to Mention Faithfully Recorded Herein..."

This is a hilarious collection of 35 of the master humorist Bill Nye's funniest pieces and stories; originally hundreds of newspaper columns and later assembled into books. Absolutely essential listening for those of us who have a sense of self deprecation and just plain good old sense of humor!

"The Emerald City of Oz" was published in 1910. It is the story of Dorothy and her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em coming to live in Oz permanently due to the impending loss of their farm in Kansas because of a terrible tornado. While they are toured through the Quadling Country, the Nome king is assembling allies for an invasion of Oz! In this adventure the listener is in for a real treat, meeting more of the wonderful inhabitants of Oz than ever before (as well as some of the scary folk from the underground Nome Kingdom).

"The Tunnel Under the World" is a science fiction short story by Frederik Pohl. It was first published in 1955. Guy and Mary Burckhardt wake up in their house in Tylerton on June 15, having both had terrible nightmares, but they can't recall the events of their dreams. Guy dismisses the dream and goes to work as usual, the downtown offices of Contro Chemicals, which operates a highly automated and robot-staffed petrochemicals plant. But something isn't right at all.

"The Misplaced Battleship" is a sci-fi short story by author Harry Harrison, published in 1960. James Bolivar DiGriz, alias "Slippery Jim" and "The Stainless Steel Rat", is a fictional character and the protagonist of a series of comic science fiction novels by the same author. "Slippery Jim" is the listener's wonderfully sly, funny and resourceful hero in this entertaining and amusing work; where he has to investigate and - hopefully! - solve the case of a dangerous battleship floating around unaccounted for.
