Zuerst sind es nur Abermillionen von Mücken, die über Lochdubh herfallen. Doch dann sucht ein noch größerer Plagegeist das schottische Dorf heim: Trixie Thomas. Die laute, aufdringlichen Frau hat hier eine Pension gekauft und wird bleiben, wie Hamish Macbeth mit Schrecken erfährt. Während die Dörflerinnen bald bewundernd zu Trixie aufsehen, gehen die Männer auf die Barrikaden. Denn Trixie will das Rauchen und den Alkohol aus Lochdubh verbannen und sorgt damit für viel Ungemach. Als Trixie schließlich vergiftet wird, spuckt auch Hamish Gift und Galle.
