Not fully sure of the horse and rider's position, Stone pushed up to his knees. It took a millionth of a second to locate his target. In the same span of time, the rider spotted Stone. He was bringing the long-barrel rifle around to bear on the deputy marshal. The shots were simultaneous. The rider missed. Stone didn't. Stone got off a second shot. The rider didn't. Stone's bullet struck the bushwhacker somewhere in the shoulder area.

In pursuit of two desperate outlaws, Stone rides into the sleepy little town of Abbot. After dodging an outlaw's bullet, he captures them, but is forced to kill one after the fact. Placing the remaining prisoner in the ramshackle jail, he meets a beautiful Mexican girl. Ironically, she has a personal vendetta against the killer. The hanging she anticipates witnessing is foiled when two lowlifes facilitate a jailbreak. As Stone prepares to track this killer once again, the Mexican girl insists on accompanying him.

Jake Stone's old friend, Sheriff Harry Mills has lost a crooked election. In old west style, a bunch of outlaws and gunslingers have stuffed the ballot boxes. Not only did they take away his badge, but the outlaw who stole his office is about to take away something even more valuable: his life. They are about to put Harry's neck in a hangman's noose without the benefit of a judge, jury or even a visitor. It will be nothing short of a lynching.

Stone normally wouldn't take a job this far from Denver, but a lady in south-eastern Arizona sent him a large retainer for his trouble. Who could turn that down? After a long trip, he arrives in the middle of his client's sunbathing session. No problem. The beautiful, statuesque, blond middle-aged lady asks him to join her while she enjoys the remaining rays of sun and explains why she has requested services. It seems she's had a large number of cattle stolen and one of her hands killed by the rustlers. She needs his help.
