Er kämpft verzweifelt darum, den Verlust seiner Frau zu verarbeiten und gleichzeitig ein guter Vater für seine drei Kinder zu sein. Sein Leben ist geprägt von Struktur, Regeln und akribischen To-do-Listen - eine Ordnung, an der er festhält wie an einem rettenden Anker.

Date niemals deinen Nachbarn. Nach einer herben Enttäuschung zog es mich nach Wildrose Landing, einer verschlafenen Kleinstadt, um mir dort ein neues Leben aufzubauen. Die Liebe? Das war das Letzte, wonach ich suchte. Doch dann trat Star-Autor Alexander Prescott in mein Leben - erfolgreich, charismatisch und viel zu unwiderstehlich. Als er mir dann auch noch einen Traumjob anbot, sagte ich spontan ja, weil ein Neuanfang eben auch mal Mut erfordert.

Ich habe mein Tagebuch verloren. Als ich es wiederfinde, hatte es schon jemand gelesen, kommentiert und mir seine Emailadresse hinterlassen. Als würde ich den Menschen kontaktieren wollen, der meine innersten Gedanken und Gefühle gelesen hat! Nach ein paar Gläsern Tequila mache ich jedoch genau das. Und seine Antwortmails sind humorvoll, freundlich und tiefgründig. Ich kenne noch nicht einmal seinen Namen und doch geht er mir nicht mehr aus dem Kopf.

Mit Eli Hutton zusammenzuziehen war die perfekte Lösung. Nachdem unsere beider Beziehungen in die Brüche gegangen waren, wollten wir vor allem eines: Ruhe in unseren Liebesleben. Sicher, Eli ist hinreißend, lustig und so charmant, dass ich mich wie die schönste Frau der Welt fühle. Aber davon abgesehen ist Eli wie ein Bruder für mich. Schließlich wir kennen uns schon ewig. Und für ihn bin ich nur das Mädchen von nebenan. Andererseits will das Herz, was das Herz will. Und meines will ihn.

Ich traue meinen Augen nicht. Da singt Collin West, der Superstar mit Millionen Fans, als Elvis verkleidet auf der Hochzeit meines Bruders. Und als der Abend zu Ende geht, will er nur eines: mich. Harlow Hutton. Träumerin, Denkerin und der größte Collin West Fan auf der Welt. Es ist ein wahr gewordener Traum. Wie ein Märchenprinz entführt er mich in eine fremde Welt aus Champagner und Abenteuer rund um die Welt. Aber jedes Märchen geht einmal zu Ende und Collins Dämonen der Vergangenheit könnten meinen Traum zum Albtraum werden lassen.

Wyatt Huttons blaue Augen rauben mir den Atem - sie schauen direkt in mein Herz. Aber es darf nicht sein, denn uns trennt nicht nur der Altersunterschied. Uns trennt auch die Vergangenheit. Sein Vater war ein Trinker und Betrüger. Und meine Mutter? Dessen Geliebte. Doch das Leben scheint andere Pläne mit uns zu haben, denn er ist der Einzige, an den ich mich wenden kann, als ich nicht mehr weiter weiß. Wir kämpfen gegen unsere Gefühle.

Im Kindergarten verliebte ich mich in Maisie Brown und mit sechs Jahren machte ich ihr einen Heiratsantrag. Doch in der siebten Klasse zog sie in einen anderen Bundesstaat und ich habe sie nie wiedergesehen. Bis heute. Denn Maisie ist zurück. Für genau eine Woche. Aus dem schüchternen kleinen Mädchen ist eine hinreißende, erfolgreiche Frau geworden. Und aus unserer Kinderfreundschaft wird nun eine Explosion der Leidenschaft. Aber meine Familie, mein Geschäft, meine Geschichte - alles ist fest in Key West verwurzelt und ihr neues glamouröses Leben spielt in Los Angeles.
