Gotta love those dangerous/bad boys, right?! Love this story line with the mafia and how the main character fell into his familial hierarchy. Suspenseful, heart wrenching, and steamy all at the same time! Great narration and great plot!

When romance writer Valentina Jennings decides to enjoy a sinfully decadent, very private, “rooftop to suite”, date with Diavolo Montoya, the gorgeous cover model of a few of her novels, it seems like the perfect opportunity for a delightful, “one and done”, fantasy interlude! When Diavolo’s “soldier” comes knocking in the wee hours, Valentina finds out just how wrong she was … “Brutal Heir” is brilliantly, beautifully written! The plot is extremely well developed, featuring a high level of tension in all the right places, AND in just the right amounts, all the while managing to make perfect sense along the way, AND at the reveal! This not only held this listener’s interest from start to finish, but produced quite a few “edge of your seat” moments where I literally had to use every bit of my restraint to NOT up the speed to break the tension! THIS is masterful writing and THIS is why I listen to audiobooks. Also featured is a heat level that is absolutely, positively, fan yourself forbidden, delicious, and delightful! The dialogue, THIS beautifully written, sometimes snappy, sometimes snarky, but at ALL times realistic and convincing … beautiful …dialogue, made all the more delightful by clear, emotional, perfectly timed narration, and spoken by characters so deeply defined they resonated WITH and created strong feelings IN this listener! Some of those feelings were positive, some not, but ALL were powerfully PRESENT nonetheless! No spoilers! I don’t want to ruin the many surprises this listen holds for anyone! Having checked all MY boxes, “Brutal Heir” is a five star winner in all categories! I loved it!

I really enjoyed this romance book. I ended up listening to it over 2 days as the suspense drew me in. There was a nice mix of story and romance. The narrator did a great job, love listening to his voice!

I really enjoyed the story. It developed nicely, went at a decent pace and of course and the plot was enjoyable, no to big twists and turns to elongate everything, just good enough.
I loved the voice of the narrator, warm and a nice pace and timbre.
I wasn’t able to put it down.

I received this audible book for free, and I'm really glad I did because now I want more.

I usually like paranormal romance or RH. I've not read a mafia type romance prior to this. I was working on expanding my reading the last few weeks. Unfortunately, this one took longer to finish than usual because it contains a lot of smut, really juicy! My daughter was home from school a few days and I had to throw on some young adult books.

Performance: really great job, however, I do like having a male and female to read the parts. it still turned out amazing without both.

I love that the author didn't make the female lead completely helpless and ignorant. The male lead was dark and caring, who wouldn't be attracted to that? It had a lot of steamy parts as well as two characters building up their feelings towards each other while figuring out their situation. Also, a few surprises!

I will definitely be looking into more of her books after this. I need part two.
