This story was a wild ride! The story line was different and very enjoyable. I loved that the FMC went from coward wife to strong feisty woman throughout the story. Zyon…..wow what a man! He knew what he wanted and went for it! He kept Valeria safe without her even knowing. He helped her from a toxic situation and gave her and Zara the world! The relationship between Zara and Zyon is absolute perfection. He helped her show that someone will always be there for her. The way he protected her and made her feel safe….SWOOON! Chester….even his name sucks he was an awful human being and deserved to be fed to the sharks! The mafia ties in this one were great! The Zhumagulov brothers are the strongest in the game and they will always fight for what’s theirs! I’m interested in what’s next in this series because this one held me captive. I couldn’t Stop listening to this story it was spicy and suspenseful which is a great combination if you ask me! Joe Arden as always was fantastic in this story. The emotion he puts into his work is flawless. Michelle sparks as always does not disappoint. She did fantastic at bringing Valeria’s character to life! The emotions she was able to shed through this role was fantastic! This paring is one I truly enjoyed!

This was a fun & easy read/listen, but honestly I’d probably recommend it better on audio than reading because it was kind of long, but with the duet performance and the 5⭐️ narrators - it was worth it!

Valeria is married to Chester - but he sucks. 👎 They have a 7 year old daughter together named Zara. Chester has a g@mbling problem, and he lost/stole all of their (her!) money, he is also grows to be incredibly @busive and neglectful.

Valeria starts work at a casino, working the blackjack table when the Zhumagulov brothers (triplets) own it. Zyon is the oldest, so the de facto leader, and has also been married and divorced twice already. Valeria immediately catches his eye.

This was a good story about a mother trying (and sometimes failing) to protect her daughter from an @busive father, finding new love and learning to trust that he can be better and take care of them. Valeria really annoyed me at times, but I’ve never been in this situation, so I can’t judge too harshly. I just wish it didn’t take almost 3/4 of the story for her to leave him 😩

Side note: honestly the m@fia portion was a little unclear. It was some sort of organized crime/gambling family (three triplet brothers) but there was no apparent actual organization. Zyon called Valeria “mon cœur.…”= “my heart” in French, but to me his last name sounded Eastern European? Also - Zyon = Hebrew, Malin = Scandinavian, Dorian = Greek. I just wish that it was a little more clear, I love m@fia politics and organization details, but this felt a little haphazardly put together.

Two of my absolute favorite narrators!! Both did absolutely great in this duet. Both Michelle & Joe get into their characters and make the story more enjoyable when listening! It makes you feel all the emotions for each of the characters and I absolutely love it!!

I’ve been reading a lot of mafias lately and this one is probably my favorite I’ve listened to this year!
The story was very good and made you want better for Valeria and her husband. Never knowing what might happen next and all the twists and turns that Valeria and Zyon faced to get their HEA was amazing!

I cried and gasped often in this book, making it a great listen to in my opinion!
If you love masked men, a stalker MMC and mafia, this is one for you!
