I thought I escaped hell when I ran from the Sanctuary.

Hell found me on a Valentine's Day auction block. Where the highest bidder owns you—body, mind, and soul.

Vaughn Sutherland paid more for me than most people see in a lifetime.

He put me in a room with silk sheets and locked doors. He made me want things I shouldn't want.

So, I ran.

I made it a few hours before he found me.

I expected punishment. Expected pain. Expected him to finally show me the monster beneath the patient facade.

Instead, he gave me pleasure.

Over and over. Until I couldn't remember why I ever wanted to leave.

Now I sleep in his bed, not the guest room. Now he watches my every move. Now every choice I thought I had is gone—except one.

Submit willingly to his training for the Consortium gathering, or he'll break me until I do. And the worst part? I'm starting to want to submit.

The Sanctuary stole her childhood. Vaughn Sutherland bought her. And when she runs? He'll hunt her down and teach her that the only freedom she'll ever have is the kind he gives her.

Warning: Contains a hero who thinks love is ownership, patience is a weapon, and Valentine's Day is the perfect excuse to buy something priceless.

Hunt You Down by Elizabeth Knox is book 2 in the A Dark Holiday series; however, it is a standalone. The story follows 23-year-old Eden, who escaped a polygamist cult only to be trafficked and sold to Vaughn, a member of a secret order.

I love the book's premise, and it’s definitely on the darker side. My first thought was, “What in the Hunting Adeline did I walk into?” From the very first chapter, the suspense and tension were high, and I was on the edge of my seat.

I really enjoyed the first book, so it was no surprise that I would enjoy this one too. My main criticism is that some words and phrases were repeated quite a bit, and I feel like the ideas could have been repeated without using the exact same words.

Eden and Vaughn were well written, and both had excellent dimensions. While Eden may be just learning about her body as she’s deprogrammed, she still comes across as an intelligent young woman. She’s strong-willed but knows when she’s pushing Vaughn’s patience, and her survival instincts kick in.

Vaughn was a struggle to root for because he’s a walking red flag, and I think Knox meant for the reader to feel that way. I liked his growth as a character, and by the end, my opinion may have changed.

Bringing this story to life are Audrey Obeyn and Tor Thom, and both of them gave brilliant performances. I believe this is the first time I’ve heard these two narrators, and I was really impressed.

Their voices and energy complemented each other, making listening to the book an absolute pleasure. Audrey’s acting made you feel everything Eden was going through. Tor’s portrayal of Vaughn personified his commanding personality, and he gave the right amount of gruffness.

I loved this story, and I can’t recommend the audiobook enough. I’d like to give a huge thanks to Blue Nose for providing me with an ALC of this book.

Eden finds herself trafficked. She is placed up for auction. Luckily for her she is brought by Vaughn. Originally, Eden thought Vaughn would be like the other men, but she discovered that he is not like them. He may be morally black, but his heart is not all black.

Vaughn helping Eden to express herself and discover her own sexuality is hot! Gimmie all the spice. Vaugh's morally black side does come out later in the story.

Grab the audiobook version as it is one you will want to listen to. It is narrated by Audrey Obeyn and Tor Thom. I love Audrey. I have listened to a couple different audiobooks voiced by Audrey. This is the first time I have heard Tor's voice and got to say that I will definitely be checking out more audiobooks voiced by Tor.

Hunt You Down by Elizabeth Knox is a dark romance that dives into themes of captivity, manipulation, and power imbalance. Eden is raised in an ultra religious cult where obedience and motherhood define her entire existence. When she escapes just before being forced into marriage, she expects freedom but instead falls into another dangerous situation. The tone is heavy from the start and will absolutely be triggering for some readers, so checking content warnings is essential before going in.

Eden is emotionally stunted and deeply sheltered, which shapes the dynamic between her and Vaughn. He is wealthy, calculated, and used to control, and their relationship is rooted in imbalance. Much of the story centers on psychological influence presented as choice. Eden believes she is gaining independence and discovering her sexuality, yet there is a constant undertone of control guiding her decisions. Readers who gravitate toward morally gray heroes and intense psychological dynamics may find this compelling, but the themes are dark and uncomfortable.

For me, the writing itself was not particularly strong and felt repetitive throughout the book, with several phrases and ideas resurfacing again and again. At times it pulled me out of the story. The true highlight was the audiobook performance. The duet narration by Audrey Obeyn and Tor Thom elevated the material and gave the characters emotional depth that the prose alone did not always deliver.

Hunt You Down is book 2 in Elizabeth Knox’s Dark Holiday romance Series. A complete standalone!

Please check your triggers, your mental health matters and there are some dark themes.

Narrated in duet narration by Audrey Obeyn and Tor Thom. The narration was incredible! The raw emotion from these narrators really set the tone for this book!

Eden, our FMC, is a woman who really went through it. Her upbringing was built around women being for one thing and one thing only, to be owned. She ran, she got away only to find herself caught and being auctioned off as a bride to billionaire men. All to establish power.

Vaughn Sutherland, our MMC, the one who purchased Eden… for 2 MILLION dollars. Putting Eden back into cage she thought she escaped.
Little does she know he happens to be slightly different.. but still craves that power.

You really have to read/listen to get the full picture without spoilers.

There is an air of coming into your own sexuality. But slightly forced. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because this wasn’t one of my favorite tropes and sometimes the book felt slightly repetitive. Overall, I did enjoy the book and LOVED the narration.

*CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS*

Hunt You Down is the second book in A Dark Holiday series. This can be read as a standalone. This book does have dark themes. Eden had grown up in a cult. She was promised to marry one of the leaders. She would become his third wife. She was raised that pleasure was only for the man, that women were put here for the man’s pleasure. She was untouched for her future husband. When she found out she was to marry a man forty years older than her, she ran. She snuck out and ran. She ran into a lady that she thought was going to help her. Instead, Eden escaped from a cult just to be delivered into the hands of traffickers. She and several other girls ranging in age were about to be put up for auction. Vaughn has been making his way towards the “Inner Circle” for the last five years. He is just steps away from gaining the power that he has strived for. The last step is for him to purchase in inquisition and train them. The inquisition must display true obedience and submission to said owner. Vaughn has never made a purchase or showed any interest in these activities the past five years. Suddenly when he laid eyes on Eden, he had to claim her. He out bid everyone, and she became his. This book does deal with some pretty triggering situations. Please check warnings before reading.

Audrey Obeyn and Tor Thom did a fantastic job narrating in duet style narration.
