A “fake” fiancée is just the trick to help a bad-boy football player clean up his image. Trouble is, there’s nothing fake about the way August feels about his “pretend” fiancée.
August Luck is on the brink of greatness: top NFL draft pick, a great team, multiple corporate sponsorships, but he keeps messing it up with bonehead moves. After his latest shenanigan goes viral, everyone is telling him to get his act together.
Penelope Morrow grew up with August. Their mothers were best friends. Unfortunately, Pen always fled the room with a look of disapproval on her pretty face whenever August was around. But Pen has a problem too: she inherited her grandparent’s house and can’t pay the estate tax.
On a whim, August decides a temporary public engagement is the solution to both their problems—he’ll pay her taxes, and she’ll help his image. Win-win.
But, when it comes to Pen, nothing is certain or safe. Because Pen isn’t so reserved anymore. This time, she’s smiling back at him. And he likes it. A lot. Will they each survive the ruse unscathed?

The family dynamic amongst all the Luck siblings is top tier, so much witty banter, that they become your siblings (and you really hope they all get their own books!!)
Maxine Mitchell and Teddy Hamilton killed it in this dual narration. They WERE August and Penelope and the heart and heat they put into their performance as incredible. Definitely recommend the audio!
Witty banter for the win!

Maxine and Teddy give perfect dual performances, and this story was truly no different. Maxine stuns as many female family members, and as Penelope. Her male voice is such a great tone and compliments Teddy’s performance. Teddy equally had my attention, voicing multiple brothers in August’s family and also the females.
What I loved about this story was that it was rich in background details and it was a slow burn. By the time Penelope and August gave in, they were on a footing built with a foundation of trust and acceptance. They’ve known each other their whole lives, and getting to learn each other as adults in a fake engagement was truly fun to hear as it evolved.
Maxine & Teddy are a perfect dual team!
