OMG if you love a pitch black romance, then Colton by Linzvonc is exactly what you need! I highly suggest you check those trigger warnings before you start this one because this is pitch black. No one does unhinged MMC quite like Joe Arden, and he is deliciously crazed and obsessed as Colton. And Lucy Rivers gives us a such a strong FMC (Mary/Luella) who is dead set on revenge and will withstand anything to get it. Luella’s and Colton’s relationship was extremely messed up and I loved it. Sometimes you crave the darkness….. just like Luella and I do.

Luella is one tough FMC. While she was walking right into the lion's den and lots to fear, she showed that she would not back down. Do we "hate" Colton, the answer is no. We wanted to not like him because of his horrible father but once the truth was revealed about Colton, I actually liked him.

This is a dark story that is filled with emotional trauma. Luella and Colton share their trauma with spicy chemistry.

Grab the audiobook, you won't regret it. It is duet narrated by Lucy Rivers and Joe Arden. I got lost in the voices of Lucy and Joe. Joe is a top star. Lucy and Joe elevated the story with their voices.

I knew as soon as I saw that Lucy Rivers and Joe Arden were going to be giving Luelle and Colton to life I knew it was going to be a good one and I was not disappointed at all. This is the heaviest with triggers in the series and the narrators definitely had their work cut out for them. Each of these characters have dark tendencies and Lucy and Joe know how to deliver those types of characters with perfection. There is never a dull moment when these two are narrating together!

"The air between us feels electric, and yet I can't help but notice how protective he is--even if it unnerves me. I can sense the turmoil within him, the way he struggles against whatever darkness lurks beneath his surface."

I went from one of Linzvonc's sweet stories right into this one. This one that has 40 trigger warnings. My eyes may have bugged out of my head for a brief moment but I persevered and just proceeded with caution. I have to say this is one of the darkest books I have ever read.

Colton and Luella are an interesting pair. I truly like them together even though they are very toxic...lol! Each of their kind of crazy matches the other for sure. Do not get me wrong, there were many times I was not a fan of Colton but even in the darkest of books I will find a silver lining and there is one for Colton.

He knows that he is not normal. He has been raised by an evil monster of a father. Honestly, I was surprised he had any type of conscience at all given with how his father is. One look at Mary (Luella) and his own inner demon battles it out with the rational part of his mind. Even though the inner demon wins out more times than I cared for his rational thinking eventually shows up.

I was not expecting Luelle to be the spitfire she turns out to be!!! She is a tad better at concealing her darkness but once she has the opportunity to let it loose she goes full force with a quickness. I wouldn't want to end up on her bad side...lol!

Colton is a beautifully unhinged, pitch-black romance that will leave you shaken by just how dark these characters’ worlds are. The FMC is on a revenge mission, while the MMC is a product of his environment, leaving the reader deliciously conflicted. Colton’s red flags blur into green flags, and I enjoyed every minute. The narration was phenomenal and had me deep in my feelings through all the ups, downs, and unhinged brilliance.

This pitch black story is not for the faint of heart. Readers and listeners check your triggers with this one. Luella infiltrates the home of the man who stole her sister, and must survive his son who becomes obsessed with her. Colton will stop at nothing to make her his, while fighting his own internal demons and the demon that raised him.
No one portrays an unhinged anti-hero like Joe Arden and was a perfect match for Colton. Lucy Rivers was a 5 star choice for our badass and resilient Luella.
This is a stand alone in the Archer High Series.
