Inspired by The Little Mermaid and the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, this stand-alone, fantasy romance is perfect for fans of Danielle L. Jensen, Sarah J. Maas, and Laura Thalassa.

She sold her soul to a siren and now he’s come to collect.

Victoria risks everything to leave a dangerous marriage and gain a second chance at life. But when her escape goes awry, she finds herself caught in the strong embrace of a mysterious siren, forced to choose: temporary salvation or immediate death.

And so, a cursed deal is struck.

Five years later, Victoria is alive—and the world’s finest ship captain. But her debt to the siren looms while her conniving ex has demanded a king’s ransom as the final price of her freedom. Victoria refuses to cause her family to suffer any more on her behalf, and is determined to make things right before her time is up. But that time is cut short.

The siren comes for her. Six months early.

Taken to the magical and deadly Eversea, home of the sirens, Victoria discovers she’s the sacrifice upon which all sirens pin their hopes. If they want to appease an angry god and save a world on the brink of destruction, then they need her. Which gives her the perfect leverage.

Victoria strikes a new bargain: the Siren Duke will help save her family, and she’ll fulfill his demands. It’s a good bargain until a flicker of passion ignites in the scarred remnants of Victoria's heart, threatening all she's worked for. As the sacrifice for the God of Death, she’s meant to give up everything that draws her to the world of the living. But that’s impossible when all she can think about is how this handsome siren’s song, and his hands, make her feel very much alive.

In a realm of ancient magic, submerged secrets, and forgotten gods, can love find a place among shattered hearts as they race against time and the blossoming of forbidden desires? Or will the delicate songs of their hearts be silenced once and for all?

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

Performed by Stephanie Németh-Parker, Anthony Palmini, Karenna Foley, Ken Jackson, Samantha Cooper, Mike Carnes, Scott McCormick, Alysia Beltran, Bradley Foster Smith, Richard Rohan, Nanette Savard, Colleen Delany, Eric Messner, Terence Aselford, Karen Novack, Yasmin Tuazon, Nora Achrati, Jeri Marshall, Megan Hastie, and David Zitney.

The voice acting was very good, and anytime the story dragged along a bit that aspect kept me going. I enjoyed it overall, and it actually had me crying towards the end. I did skip a few books in the series before it, which was fine because they are good as standalone stories. I felt that there was not as much exposition and world building as in the vampire book which is my only real issue with this book. Worth a listen in my opinion.

Quite Good

This book was very close to be in my DNF list.

It takes me 2 to 3 days to finish a book (considering that I work). It took me 6 months to finish this one and only because, wanting to give it another chance, I decided to listen to the GraphicAudio version.

The major problem with this book, in my opinion, is that it is VERY slow. Once you put it down for the night it’s really hard to pick it back up. But I didn’t want to give up, because I liked the first 3 books on this series and I’m eager to start the last one. It went against my better judgment to skip this one.

The three stars are mostly because the GraphicAudio saved it for me. The narrators were fantastic.

I understand why some people didn’t like the ending. It’s not the worst ending, it’s still some form of HEA, but definitely not the one I would’ve chosen.

Not the best one in the series

I wanted this book to be soooo much betters LOVED the concept of it but it felt like it dragged way too much for me. I need some extra umph to keep me entertained more as I found myself skipping which is sad since I love Elisa Kova. This one just didn’t do it for me. The dynamic between them just wasn’t as intense and yearning as the others I have read. The soak just wasn’t there.

Loved everything about this book. I’m so tired of idiot young FMCs, this was a refreshing story with refreshing characters while still keeping it fantastical.

I’ve read all of the books more than once. This one was difficult to get through even once. I ended up speeding up the audio. When I thought I missed something, I went back and realized I had not missed anything because nothing happened in the book, in the plot, to the characters, to the story. Not a single thing happened in this book. I read everything Elise Kova publishes and love it. I’d say this and the last of the Vortex Chronicles were my least favorite for different reasons. The latter had so much to follow I needed a pushpin board, a printer, and red string. I needed to know what happened to the Vhalla storyline though! That series is what got me back into reading. ANYWAY, this duet is in a lower level tier than anything else. I’m so sorry, Elise! I love your work. Narration was great! Kissy sounds were off putting.
