Have you recently lost your husband? Are there days when you feel so terribly alone—and that no one else could possibly understand?

Author Gayle Roper understands. As a recent widow herself, Gayle writes, So who am I now that there's only one place at the table...one pillow with a head dent, one damp towel after a shower. There's only one toothbrush in the holder. The seat is never left up anymore. I can still write Mrs. in front of my name, but I'm no longer in a marriage relationship. You need two people for a marriage and there's only me.

Is there only you? Then join Gayle as she draws on her emotions during the loss of her beloved husband, Chuck, and offers you a compassionate devotional to encourage you through your darkest days. Gayle knows a widow's pain is deep. But she also knows God's love is deeper still, and it's in His love you'll find your deepest comfort.

I was shaking my head in disbelief at the similarities of our names, duration of marriage, family composition… so many things!
Gayle has captured it well…..

So many similarities 💔

My husband died 2 months ago 8 days after being diagnosed with cancer. I am still in shock. This book strangely comforted me. I felt someone was talking to me who truly understood. Thank you!

Gayle Roper walks you through her experience as a widow in an uplifting, humorous, and inspiring journal that I think would help anybody going through the loss of a spouse. There were so many things I never would think of affecting her life after her husband's death and some of these things were good for other people to think about too. It made me cry for sure, but it also gave me hope and prayers to help people get through an awful time. Even the reader's voice was uplifting and warm and wrapped like a cozy comforter around me.

Uplifting, funny, and a message of hope

I picked this book because I like the very personal reflections I heard during the preview. I needed to heart feelings and thoughts to which I could relate. The reason I mark down stars is because the Bible verses were used excessively. Sometimes they would interrupt the story line and there were verses every 3-4 minutes. I don’t read the Bible so it was at times annoying. However if you are someone well versed in the Bible and read it often, you will enjoy this.

Personal reflection with LOTs of bible berses

The Author was real. She didn’t sugarcoat anything. I can totally relate to her honest anguish after losing her Chuck. I lost my David, & my world has changed forever this side of Heaven. Towards the end of the book, Gayle leaned into God & her future; that gives me hope🙏✝️.

Gut level honesty
