A #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Beloved actress, Food Network personality, and New York Times bestselling author Valerie Bertinelli reflects on life at sixty and beyond.

Behind the curtain of her happy on-screen persona, Valerie Bertinelli’s life has been no easy ride, especially when it comes to her own self-image and self-worth. She waged a war against herself for years, learning to equate her value to her appearance as a child star on One Day at a Time and punishing herself in order to fit into the unachievable Hollywood mold. She struggled to make her marriage to Eddie Van Halen — the true love of her life — work, despite all the rifts the rock-star lifestyle created between them. She then watched her son follow in his father’s footsteps, right up onto the stage of Van Halen concerts, and begin his own music career. And like so many women, she cared for her parents as their health declined and saw the roles of parent and child reverse. Through mourning the loss of her parents, discovering more about her family’s past, and realizing how short life really is when she and her son lost Eddie, Valerie finally said, “Enough already!” to a lifelong battle with the scale and found a new path forward to joy and connection. Despite hardships and the pressures of the media industry to be something she’s not, Valerie is, at last, accepting herself: she knows who she is, has discovered her self-worth, and has learned how to prioritize her health and happiness over her weight. With an intimate look into her insecurities, heartbreaks, losses, triumphs, and revelations, Enough Already is the story of Valerie’s sometimes humorous, sometimes raw, but always honest journey to love herself and find joy in the everyday, in family, and in the food and memories we share.

“This thoughtful, bighearted book is sure to be a hit with Bertinelli fans and those with an appetite for stories of hard-won self-acceptance. A warmly intimate memoir.”

Kirkus Reviews

“In a series of brutally frank essays, Bertinelli looks back on the emotional struggles and triumphs of her life. By turns raw and inspiring, this contains a little bit of wisdom for everyone.”

Once I started I could not stop. I purchased the hardcover but I wanted to hear it read by you, as you wrote it. I loved every story you told. I’ve gone through everything (except the being famous parts lol) you have gone through and are still going through. I lost my father just past three years ago and am now caregiver to my mother who has Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia. And always since I was a child the weight issues. I’m doing better with that right now but of course that can change again. Your words help people so don’t stop…..and love yourself. Love is all that matters in the end 💕

Beautifully written and read

This is one of the best books. You could even say a self help book. I just wish Valerie and I had found this out so much sooner than in our sixties!

great book

Absolutely love it!
This came at the perfect time of losing my sister in August 2021 from an abusive relationship and Covid. The need to recover from her lose and anger at her husband (there is a special place in hell for him).

I say thank you.

I absolutely loved this book!!! Listening to her story about struggling with weight, expectations and that inner critic was like reading my own story (minus the stardom). It makes me wonder why, as women, we feel we have to live up to society's unreasonable expectations of beauty and what being a woman is. Reminder ladies, that view comes from the male perspective and not from the female perspective. We need more writers like Valerie Bertinelli to come out and show us that it's okay to be who we are, what size we are, and so on. It should not take so long to say "enough already" and love the body and person we are.

A wonderful personal journey

I have loved Valerie since she was first on “One Day at a Time.” Her narration is great. Just like you are sitting and chatting with her. The love she has for her family is so powerful. It breaks my heart that she lived for so long not being able to see in the mirror what we all see and love. The only regret I have with getting this on audible is not having the recipes written down. Loved it.
