When Ellison Russell is nearly killed at a benefactors' party, she brushes the incident aside as an unhappy accident. But when her house is fire-bombed, she's shot at, and the person sitting next to her at a gala is poisoned, she must face facts. Someone wants her dead. But why? And can Ellison find the killer before he strikes again?

Add in an estranged sister, a visiting aunt with a shocking secret, and a handsome detective staying in her guesthouse, and Ellison might need more than cream in her coffee.

This is such a great series. Twists and turns and it’s interesting. Relationships are well developed. Humor is great.

The relationships are wonderful.

This is the third book in the series. I have read each one and really enjoyed each one. They seem to get better and better as a mystery, and a good story with some good laughs.

Book three in this series continues the theme of a smart, feisty heroine coming into her own. In each book, Ellison has had to navigate through the detritus of her family's foibles and stand up for herself while her female relatives try to ride roughshod over their once complient younger sister, niece, daughter. But she's not letting secrets get in her way when there have been attempts on her life, again.
My main criticism this time, is the number of family members who end up in the hospital with serious wounds and how that ploy is used once again for resolution of enmity. Three books in, I really like this series, the narration is great, and I am going to read book #4.

Another great one from Julie Mulhern, skillfully narrated by Callie Beaulieu. Mrs. Wolford's museum gala is here and members of the family start to arrive … several unexpectedly. Before long Ellison has a houseful of guests in her home and they all bring baggage that is a bit heavy to handle. Mrs. Wolford's sister, "Aunt Cis", has arrived from Europe and Ellison's sister, Marjorie, arrives from Ohio with an array of revealing dresses that cause many men's eyes to focus on her while her eyes are wandering. Now it seems that someone is trying to kill our Ellison. But, why? Hunter Taft and Detective Anarchy Jones are ready on the spot to protect her yet things keep happening. This one is loaded with twists and turns and of course what would a Country Club Murder book be without a body. I am hooked !!! I have been telling my friends how much I love these books. Now several of them have joined me too … even including a husband of one of my friends !!! I recommend that you start with book #1 of the series, "The Deep End", so you don't miss out on how beautifully the characters are introduced and develop. But, even if you jump in right here I know you'll be hooked by these books too. They are bright, funny, intelligent and so hard to put down, everything that a "cozy mystery", or really any mystery should be.

Ellison, what have you done?
