Love is a risk worth taking in this sizzling romance about secrets and second chances...

Scarlett Devereaux’s life on the Gulf Coast went from riches to rags so scandalously fast that she barely had time to kiss her Jimmy Choos goodbye. Now, with a new alias (Lily Barns), a new budget (tighter than a pair of Spanx), and a new job on the vacation island of Angel Fire Falls, she’s daring to reinvent herself.

Single dad Trace Remington is devoted first and foremost to raising his young son, who has Asperger’s. With flying his floatplane and salvaging his family’s island resort too, he has time for little else. His brothers think he needs a break from his all-work-no-play lifestyle, so they goad him into action. In response to their dare, Trace asks a sexy tourist for her number, only to discover afterward that she’s the resort’s brilliant new hospitality manager.

The sparks of flirtation soon ignite into a flame too hot to ignore. But Lily and Trace both have pasts that threaten to tear them apart. Now, they’ll need to admit their secrets to each other...or risk ending their relationship before it really begins.

Trace & "Lily": triggers- alcohol abuse, embezzlement, Asperger's, child abandonment, grief and loss. Lily is running from her home to get away from so the paparazzi harassing her about her family scandal. so she gets a job at the Remington resort under false pretenses. Trace is a single father and oldest brother of three running the Remington resort. his dad hired Lily to help revamp the resort and bring in more clients. I really enjoyed this book, it's very sweet but had some funny moments as well as some very spicy moments. the story is more of an enemies to lovers though not as strongly on the enemies end as most enemies to lovers. I really hope there's a second and third book for the twins.

pretty good

Another masterpiece by Shelly Alexander. I thought “it is in his heart” was her one of her best work, but that was until this. The storyline, the setting, characters and the plot were all A+++. I read slowly because I never wanted it to end.......a very entertaining and fulfilling read. Definitely worth my money!

4.5 Stars for me!

I really enjoyed this story from beginning to end and am impressed with the world the author built. I know that lots of people don't like the evil-ex being a part of the storyline but it was done in a minimal way and did not bury the story. The only thing I took 0.5 stars away from my rating is that the 'lie' went on too long; however, even that was handled well.

I already have the second book queued up to listen to and will start it now.

Excellent Story!

I really enjoyed this story. The author gave life to each character-even the not so major characters. I felt that it was well written when it came to incorporating the challenges of raising a child with special needs to the diplomatic ways Lily approached every issue (that came up with relationships or her job). Part of every chapter was well thought out. I will definitely follow Shelly Alexander and all the books she produces.

Great overall!

Trace and Scarlet’s romance unites a single father/float plane pilot and a disgraced, wealthy hotel management executive forced to reinvent herself in an emotionally compelling and heartwarming story that engaged me from start to finish. Trace, who has been burned by love before, has dedicated all his energy to raising his 8 year old son Ben who has Asperger’s Syndrome, and the reinvention of his family’s struggling island resort. Lily is a strong willed, determined young woman who bent the truth to get the job so she could hide out on the island where she wouldn’t be recognized. She can’t risk falling for her boss…again. I loved both characters from the start when Lily shows up with a gaggle of ducks trailing behind her and Trace’s son Ben falls head over heels for both the ducks and kind hearted Lily. Their story is engaging, emotionally compelling, and delightfully entertaining as both characters try to fight their attraction for each other amid smoldering looks, raging hormones, and Ben’s utter fascination with his little winged friends who become his single minded focus. I liked the tender exploration of Ben’s Asperger’s Syndrome, his heartbreaking awareness of his ‘weirdness’, and the complication of his fractured relationship with his absent and self serving actress mother. Add in the well meaning rivalry between Trace and his brothers, the gentle wisdom of their widowed father, and the excellent narration performance of Vanessa Edwin and this romance is an absolute winner!

Emotionally compelling and heartwarming story with wonderful narration!!
