Rose McKenzie is adapting to life with the Grih, and now that the threat of war with the Tecran is over, she's hoping to settle into what passes for a normal life far from Earth and everything she knows. When she gets the chance to join an exploration team who are going down to collect information from a planet in Grihan airspace, she jumps at the chance to stretch her legs and breathe some real air.

But unknown to the Grih, someone is already on the planet, and they don't want anyone to know what they're up to. They ambush the exploration team and take them prisoner, but they don't realize they didn't get everyone. They didn't get Rose.

With her lover, Dav, and his spaceship the Barrist lured away by a distress signal, Rose and Sazo, along with a furry friend Rose has made, are the exploration team's only hope at rescue.

Excellent Read. A portion is cut off

I loved it a short and sweet adventure with Sazo, Rose and Davh. But a portion of Ch 1 is cut off. I hope they fix it. Otherwise really good read.

Fabulous story & terrific narrator!

This novella is a fantastic opportunity to get more time with Rose, Dav and Sazo. MD Also introduces a intrepid little scene stealer in the form of an adorable baby animal that looks like a flying squirrel from Earth, that Rose christens Sweetpea.

Sweetpea struck me as a quirky homage to Rocky the Flying Squirrel, from the delightful cartoon series of the 1960s, Rocky and Bullwinkle.

For fans of this series, this terrific little story is not to be missed!

The audiobook narrator is wonderful!

love the depth of the society

I like that the same person voiced all the books, and the characters were constant

Much too short

But I’m looking forward to more! The summary gave too much away - next time be more mysterious.
