Decent

When I say decent I mean that it was good, but there are much better Stephen King books. I found the story more disturbing than some of his others. I mean disturbing is more or less expected from him, but wow! The narrator was good. What stuck out to me was the music. I found it cheesy, terrible, and really unnecessary. Overall though, I'd recommend it if you like his other books.

Gerald's Game

Brilliant novel by King. I loved it. Exceptionally tense and hard to put down. I knocked this one out in under 2 days of listening off and on, with the last 8 hrs I did uninterrupted at work. Very scary and disturbingly graphic at points with alot of emotion as well. The end is my only quiff as I have had a few with Kings novels. **Spoilers*** I didn't like the actual materialization of the night visitor or "space cowboy". I thought he was in her he'd the entire time but Kings explanation that he was in fact there didn't make sense to me. I was thinking there was much more to him and her memories of her dad and the eclipse but there wasn't, I even thought at end that when she went into court to witness he was real that maybe it would end up her father. Also what about her dreams of a women chasing her into blackberries and the handful of cotton in woman's hand. I kept waiting for her to admit that her mother found out bout dad and her or that dad did more or that she herself came onto her father and it was all in her mind. idk I just thought there'd be more to it and the end where there was a strange ghoul in her home that did nothing to her was kinda uneventful even though after thinking bout it it was very creepy. The memory of the eclipse and dad turning into her way out of cuffs was rather brilliant though but the parts where she describes her dad's basic molestation of her was rather hard to listen to/read but very compelling. I have read about 12 or 13 King novels now and this one is right up there with the best I've read so far.

Great voice interpretation!

Great voice interpretation. I didn't give 5 stars because I didn't like at all the noises they put in the audio for chapter breaks and suspense moments during storytelling.
For the history point oficina view, a couple of chapters were slow and redundant. But I liked the overall story and ending.

good but it has some music

the music feels super annoying at times making it distracting and not even matching the mood of the chapter is bridging into.

A great listen except for the synth.

This book contains sexual assault, pedophilia and mutilation. just a TW for anyone who is interested but may have an issue with that.


definately one of King's more suspenseful books. had me on the edge of my seat. the only part that bothered me was that damn synthesizer they used for transitions.
