Christmas Eve might not seem like the best moment to time travel back to the modern world in a giant bus. When you're the King of England, however, it's the one night of the year when nobody else is watching. And when things don’t go as planned, either in the modern world or the medieval one, it’s up to David and his collection of time travelers to alter history and save the Kingdom of Wales … again.

I found this series after my television show Timeless had their season finale (Fingers crossed!) and fell in love with The After Cilmeri Series. I love the time travel (or world shifting) with a twist. Medical reasons bring King David, his family and the Cardiff bus travelers back to the 21st century on purpose this time. As always in this series we see the past is not that different politically from the future in some aspects. Tying up loose ends, acquiring technology and trying to get back home is one of the problems they face. Will everyone who wants to return make it back? David is a true King of the people with a strong sense of right and wrong. So it is not surprising that he will not turn his back to try and help prevent people from dying in either world (or time).
This series is also good at having strong POV by women of both times. Bridget and Peter stay back in the 13th century investigating a kidnapping and possible treason. Though two different timelines, it all comes seamlessly together for a great ending (for some)!

Time travel with a twist. Loving this series!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have recommended this book to my friends because it is such an interesting story. Sarah does a wonderful job in bringing the characters to life.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Guardians of Time?

The memorable moment of this story for me is when the time travel occurs seeing how they adapt to the current situation.

What does Laurel Schroeder bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Laurel does a good job with the character's voices and it brings more depth to the story when you can "hear them" having their conversations.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The moment before the time travel occurs when you are not sure if it is going to work in the dangerous situation.

Any additional comments?

This book, like the others in the series is very entertaining with the historical background and the action and adventure that the characters bring. It makes you feel as if you are there and the characters are your friends. Each book makes you look forward to the next one in the series.

Excellent Story!

Would you consider the audio edition of Guardians of Time to be better than the print version?

I'm still a huge fan of print over audio, but if one does have a preference of audio then I would highly recommend it as I have with all the other previous volumes. Laurel does an amazing job with the narration. Also if you're in your car a lot, or just busy with mundane work like I am and you can't read the story, this is perfect.

What other book might you compare Guardians of Time to and why?

To be truthful, this series has been stepping into it's own since book 4 so really it's hard to make a comparison to any other author's works anymore. Sarah has done so much to bring you into the world of these characters and make you love them or hate them. It's really her own separate world now. Which I think is fantastic! It means soon others will start comparing new works to her books!

Have you listened to any of Laurel Schroeder’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Only the other books in this series, and as usual she does not disappoint. You feel the emotion from every character individually. No one sounds the same, and you're not the least bit bored listening to the story. She's very entertaining. I love it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I wouldn't say I did no. Lots of parts made me laugh. I don't recall any crying though. Sarah weaves an interesting tale, and Laurel drags you along with her while she reads. It's a great combo.

Any additional comments?

Can't wait to listen to the next one... and the one after that... and the one after that... I hope there's many many more to come.

They just keep getting better
