Cole Masten. Abandoned by his superstar wife, Hollywood's perfect husband is now Hollywood's sexiest bachelor: partying hard and screwing even harder. Watch out Los Angeles, there's a new bad boy in town.

Summer Jenkins. That's me, a small town girl stuck in Quincy, Georgia. I cook some mean chicken and dumplings, can bluff a grown man out of his savings in poker, and was voted Most Friendly my senior year.

We were from different worlds. Our lives shouldn't have collided. But then Cole Masten read a book about my small town. And six months later, his jet landed on our dusty airstrip, and he brought Hollywood with him. From the start, I knew he was trouble. For our town. And for me. Sometimes, opposites just aren't meant to attract.

I really enjoyed this audiobook and think it will make a great movie (it's currently in post-production). I find it ironic that it will be a movie about making a movie. The author has an interesting way with words. I loved the southern charm that suffused the story. Her descriptions really caught my attention, and I liked her sense of humor. I would describe this as a character-driven romance. I usually prefer books with more action and a more suspenseful plot, but this one held my interest.

I thought Rachel F. Hirsch nailed the narration. I enjoyed the southern accent she employed and thought she did the different voices well. This was my first experience with her narration.

A Classic

In this instance, I saw the movie before reading the book and have to say, I see why quite a bit was left out of the movie. Way too much of the book is superfluous fluff. Where the movie was smoking hot the "payoff" parts in the book were a long time coming and far too few in between. But mostly, I'm still trying to figure out where all Summers "hate" for Cole came from that took 7/8ths of the book and just dragged, and dragged on ad nauseum. What, just because he wasn't born and raised Southern??? All the whining about it makes the book hard to stay interested in. If I hadn't seen the movie I might not have even bother to finish the book but I was too interested in the differences between the book and movie to stop. The whole Wal-mart and Florida casting call BS was completely unnecessary. Talk about making mountains out of mole hills. So the good stuff. The story is original for the most part and I felt the chemistry between the two main characters. Especially in the movie! Holy smokes do they work well together! I gave the Story three stars because it is enjoyable if you can manage to overlook the muck.

A rare time when the movie is better than the book

loved this book!!!! APretty Woman type of love story. character developement was phenomenal. by the time the two met you really understood what their lives were really like. And wow does the fireworks fly (Southern Style)when these two finally meet face to face. I loved the heroine's sharp wit , southern charm, and take no s*** attitude. Absolutely refreshing for the girl to make the hero work for every inch of her respect. The narrator was brilliant in her delivery. kept great pace and her accent was spot on. she was perfect for this book. Absolutely credit worthy or dare I say , Buy it outright. definitely worth every cent. I listened straight thru, couldn't put it down. Truly the best book I've had the privilage to listen to in a long time. Will definitely be keeping a lookout for more from this author!

Best Listen This Year!!!!!
