Upgraded weapons. New magic. And a way to enter the abyssal hells....

Gray Lexly has returned to Astra Academy to train himself for the ultimate confrontation. Legendary arcanists from across the world are gathering to assist in the ultimate battle of life and death, but will it be enough to stop the rampaging Death Lords who have amassed power in the abyssal hells?

And before Gray can focus on any of that, he must first get married. With pressure mounting from all sides, Gray is grateful to have Ashlyn at his side, but will it last? The soul fragment from Death Lord Deimos still skews his perception, and sometimes Gray doesn't feel like himself.

Thankfully, he has his twin brother, Sorin, and his mimic eldrin, Twain, to keep him sane as they prepare to enter the most terrifying part of the abyssal hells: the infamous labyrinth.

The narrator was ok at best and messed up some names but he wasn’t horrible. amazing story though as always.

This is another great book in the Astra academy series. The only knock I have is this one book you need to have read the others to really enjoy. She does a great job of summarizing but so much is dependent on the past books. Hopefully you have read them all like me and you can enjoy all the small Easter eggs and storylines coming together. If you haven’t experienced her work do it you won’t regret it. The main character has become my favorite fantasy character.

My favorite author does it again

We all know how these names are pronounced.. come on now.
my biggest disappointment comes from this narrator clearly not knowing this series.
Just a hired narrator for a job.
There are many times it's very clear this narrator has no idea who Volk is... or Everett... Or the most clear of them ALL? Adelgis... This guy could pronounce his name for his life.

Great story. Bad narrator change.

Loved this book, the way Shami Stovall does character building and drawing you into the characters feelings and instincts is masterfully done. I never thought I'd empathize with a deathlord but Gray does an awesome job of bringing out his humanity. Can't wait for the next one, I should've paced myself with this one lol

Awesome character building and imagery

the story is great, as always with Shami Stovall. The new voice is not impressive. His reading of the book wasn't horrible, but keeping the voices consistent and varied was not his strong suite, at least in this book (I haven't heard him read other books). I was confused at times ,at who was talking, due to him changing accents to characters (mid conversation) and sometimes even using his "girl voice" for male characters (briefly). Over all it was still easy to follow and enjoy the story even with a few hiccups here and there.

New voice doesn't ruin a good book.
