Will Lottie be able to deal with the possibility of the supernatural—even if she turns out to be one of them?

Charlotte "Lottie" Montgomery has recently graduated from Cambridge University and has accepted a veterinarian job in the small town of Lupine Valley.

Upon arrival, Lottie finds herself drawn to five men, who are loyal, protective, and just a little bit quirky. Are their mannerisms because of their small-town culture, or is there something deeper to it? Something more . . . supernatural?

But, it turns out, Lottie has secrets of her own. But the choice is taken from her on whether she wants to share them. Some secrets need to be revealed, even if it means destroying her entire life.

When the truth is revealed, Lottie has to decide whether she can accept her new life and the people in it, or if she's going to go back to a life of ignorance.

Contains mature themes.

The FMC is insufferable. I get why, the author gives a reason but yikes. Wayyyy too opinionated, jumps to conclusions, the “I don’t need no man” attitude and an emotional mess. Really hoping this doesn’t last much longer and she mellows otherwise I’m not going to continue the series.
I do like the world building and the MMcs so far so fingers crossed for the best!

Halfway through and really hoping for the best.

It’s impossible to follow— not plot wise that’s pretty simple, but in trying to follow why the characters are doing what they do. Her reactions and feelings seem so hard to understand that I repeatedly got frustrated. She just ignores things that seemed like huge red flags or big open questions, freaks out when she should just ask something, but what bugged me the most was the way she wilts when she should be upset and just lets things happen. They behave badly then all she does is want to make them feel better. She forgives too easily and lets people keep stuff from her and won’t explain themselves, even though it’s obviously extremely important.
They ignore her questions and then she doesn’t follow up. They also basically explain exactly what’s going on by talking amongst themselves but she doesn’t seem to notice or listen or even question it.
It’s like there’s a huge giant elephant in the room and every single interaction and everybody just ignores it.
She lets herself be railroaded, except for very specific things that make her incredibly angry, but it’s not consistent .
And the responses of other people don’t really make sense either. They know she doesn’t know what’s going on, but then they seem to get upset when she doesn’t know what’s going on and behaves.“inappropriately”. But they give no explanation as to why they have to keep it from her —keeping her in the dark is obviously doing more damage. I kept wondering if anybody behaves like this. Like this imaginary world had completely imaginary and unrealistic characters.

So confused. The actions and dynamics of the people in this book are bizarre.

The writing is not very good. The MFC is a Vet, and with that type of profession, you would think she would be asking a lot of questions, especially as she discovered herself, but instead of asking any questions she just acts dumb. She went to Cambridge and is a vet and then act dumb. It just doesn’t make any sense to me at all. I totally get that her mates or these guys that are involved in her life are domineering and maybe seem a little uncaring, but I would think that in any alpha series that mates are normally protective and do not want to leave their females in any way, but that is not the case with these guys these guys are just like sure let’s leave her alone. Let’s let her do our own thing and that’s just weird to me that this book is not my jam at all and I can’t even think about reading book 2 are going on the book 3 or whatever like I just don’t even want to continue the series and it’s very rare that I find books on this platform that I don’t wanna listen to. Now let’s talk about the narrator. This narrator is really good. She’s normally awesome with fantasy and I’ve listened to her on TikTok before and in this book the writing just is not her friend on trying to narrate it. The writing is so bad that it’s hard to blame the narrator for not feeling like it’s a good performance, and the females voice is so soft that you turn up the volume, and then all of a sudden, the male characters are so domineering that you feel almost like the narrator is screaming at you and the male voice. I didn’t like that at all. Hope this helps you make a decision on whether you want to pay for more books in the series, but I would not recommend it at all. PS I did get this first book for free and thank God that I did get it for free because if I had wasted a credit, I would’ve been so mad, especially because of the high rating, and I should’ve clued in on the fact that there were only two written reviews on this book so that should have clued me in right there that this book was elevated in ranking somehow falsely….

Sorry but no thanks

this book has left me so disgusted and disappointed. haven't slept for 3 days because I can't stop thinking about how she has been treated. I understand not everybody likes her personality. but their actions towards her and treatment of her or lack thereof believe such a bad taste in my mouth. she has 8 mates, but is constantly left alone and unprotected. not to mention the complete lack of communication with her and each other. I have little to no trust or faith in any of them to have her well-being and safety and mind. her cottage has been broken into four times now the last time resulting in a dead body that looks exactly like her left inside. so you're telling me with eight mates and a combination of three packs not one person can keep someone out of her cottage and protect her. you're telling me that she's bonded to up to three of the eight mates one of which took her virginity and they completely left her alone all night after taking her virginity. the 8 mates spent the entire night chatting with another woman giving her all their time and attention. WOW. I would be so done. knowing three out of eight can feel the turmoil you're going through all night long and not once coming to check on you. WOW. part of me wants to listen to the second book hoping that it can fix the emotional upheaval I'm dealing with. I don't think I will. this book left me with PTSD. anytime I get a whiff of another character and another book being treated even remotely same way I freak out and want them to leave. I have a little to no faith, trust, or love lost for this book. maybe that says more about me than it does the author. I just learned a long time ago not to give people so many chances with your life. the only one left dealing with the aftermath is you in the end. they can move on and find someone new, mean while you're stuck with the aftermath of their actions or lack thereof.

I just can't
