Transform the mundane tasks of daily life into intentional moments of Magical self-care, with spells, rituals, and exercises that work with your brain, not against it—from the co-host of the Demystify Magic podcast

Are the dust bunnies and clutter in your house getting out of control? Do you put off cleaning your shower curtain or organizing your closet until you can’t ignore the mess anymore? Imagine turning these mundane chores into moments of Magic, where sweeping the floor or folding laundry becomes an act of spiritual connection and enchantment. But how do we bridge the gap between the ordinary and the extraordinary? That’s where Mundane Magic comes in, to help you focus on the intention behind your actions and tap into everyday Magic with simple rituals and mindful moments, like whipping together a coffee spell for abundance or clearing out the stagnant energy under your bed.

Initially a skeptic herself, Molly Donlan’s journey took an unexpected turn when chronic hip pain led her to Reiki and the intersection of science and spirituality. She’s been where you are, overwhelmed by the weight of daily stress and household chores, but by injecting boring tasks with a sense of novelty and fun, she found Magical practices that worked for her and her ADHD brain, rather than against it.

Organized by rooms around the house and divided by the level of difficulty, Mundane Magic shares fun and actionable tips, exercises, spells, and rituals to create micro-moments of Magic and motivation. You can organize your chores around the moon cycles to optimize cleansing and creativity, whip up an easy simmer pot for the motivation to tackle that pile of dirty dishes, or turn a minty shampoo into a spell for mental clarity.

Mundane Magic offers a fun approach and empathetic support for productivity around the house and reclaiming joy and creativity in the process.

Critic reviews

“Molly Donlan’s Mundane Magic is a masterclass in cultivating wonder, joy, and magic in every step you take. The book is practical, vulnerable, and witty; as a neurodivergent person, I appreciated the empathy and understanding in Molly’s words. From chore charts to simmer pots and meditations to magical correspondences, Mundane Magic has something for everyone. It’s sure to inspire a more magical—and better emotionally regulated—life by finding the hidden magic in everyday moments.”—Nicholas Pearson, author of Crystal Basics and The Witching Stones

“There’s nothing ‘mundane’ about this book; each of these little rituals offers a pathway back to joy, power, and purpose in your everyday, and to the belief that you are already enough. That, to me, is an extraordinary magic.”—Krista N. Mitchell, crystal healer, channeler, and author of Crystal Reiki

“Offering playful microhabits and daily rituals simmered in modern neuroscience and centuries-old mindfulness techniques, Mundane Magic helps you transform ordinary moments into novel, enchanted encounters. Practical, joyful, and delightfully witchy, it serves up life hacks that align spirit, body, and mind in a harmonious present moment grand trine. And in the tradition of all great Magic, Molly Donlan gives you the recipe to do your Magic right in plain sight: Loving yourself just as you are is the spell that creates the life you desire.”—Sagel Urlacher, author of The Heart of Yoga Nidra and other books on yoga nidra and yin yoga

Always love a book read by the author, especially when they are as enthusiastic as Molly is. Love the validation & motivation I felt with each chapter. Glad I got the audio version so I could relisten while tackling each room. The timing of this book couldn’t have been better for me, I was just starting to go through each space to edit & organize from moving in. Now I can truly create a happy home that serves my current needs.

Feeling so seen!

I enjoyed listening to it and loved that the author (Molly) was the one reading it. The only thing I missed was the pdf. I don’t know how to find it. I’m afraid I might have deleted or didn’t get it if it was sent in an email.

I love it

There are some books you read.

And there are some books that sit down beside you, take your face in their hands, and remind you that the world is still beautiful.

Mundane & Magic is just that.

In a season where the news feels heavy, this book felt like a warm, steady friend walking through my kitchen saying, “Look. There is still wonder here.”

She writes especially for neurodivergent souls — offering gentle structure, permission, and enchantment inside everyday tasks — but you do not need a diagnosis to appreciate her book. You only need to be human.

I listened while rage-cleaning this weekend — scrubbing, sorting, moving energy through my home — and caught myself smiling again and again. Who smiles while mopping? Apparently… someone being reminded that even the smallest acts can carry intention.

This book feels like salve on an old wound.
Like remembering that the sacred has always lived in the sink full of dishes, the folded laundry, the swept floor.

If you have been tired.
If you have been overwhelmed.
If you have forgotten that your life is allowed to feel gentle and enchanted…

This book is a lantern.

And I am so grateful it exists.

As someone with a squiggly brain and a tendency to let things go as life and illnesses flare this book made the mountains of to dos seem like the mole hills they are in a creative, playful and doable way. Adding intention behind my chores has allowed me to actually get the thing done and this way of thinking has trickled into my everyday life. Even at my worst I know I am the magic and that’s enough to get the ball rolling!

Exactly what I was looking for!
