So underrated! Better than ACOTAR!

The characters and world are so wonderful! I was more tantalized by this book than I thought possible! Devoured it!

You guys… 5 freaking stars. I absolutely devoured this book. Ella Fields writes emotion like no one else, and this story is heavy with it—in the best way possible. Dark, heartbreaking, and somehow still beautiful all at once.

The secrets, the twists, the fated-mate energy, the morally grey fae king… it all worked for me. And let’s be real—it’s deliciously spicy 🌶️🔥. This is the kind of enemies-to-lovers, marriage-of-convenience chaos I live for, and it completely wrecked me in the best way.

I didn’t even hesitate—I immediately started book two, Wrath of the Damned. If you love dark romantasy with high emotion and spice run don’t walk.. ITS A MUST READ!!!!!

Fantastic plot and characters!

I randomly picked this and I enjoyed every minute of it! The FMC has a terrible time, she can't trust anyone, but her growth and character arc are significant - from innocent to independent. I would actually enjoy eyeball reading this series again! And the narrator did a solid job!

Wonderfully pleasant surprise

I can’t believe I haven’t heard about this series more. It’s fantastic! Beautifully written and movingly performed, it had me feeling so much intense emotion and hungering for every next sentence. So far, one book in, this belongs up there alongside the favorite romantasy series. And man oh man, is it hot!!

well that was good!

I'm just starting to get into romantasy, and this book felt like a decent start! I liked it, it hooked me in, and the last third especially had me making time to listen rather than wait until I was driving somewhere again. But I had some nitpicks with the narrator - she could enunciate more, and her inflection while reading was strange so I had to rewind to understand properly a lot throughout the book - and Florian's reaction on the last page was sorely disappointing to me. Big time abuse trigger warnings for the beginning and the end - I knew I was getting into some dark shit when I decided to explore the genre, but damn. But the ending might be exciting rather than a let down for some people into that sort of thing, and the narrator's voice was honestly perfect otherwise.

🌶️🌶️🌶️ content was niiiiiice. Florian had even me swooning for him. Just, I wanted his ice facade to crack a little bit more when MC was in real danger.
