Once upon a time...

Recent college grad Emma Damon knows the Rose Room in Hartley Hall is off limits, which is exactly why she can't wait to get inside. Once she enters the forbidden room, Emma learns more about the history of the museum than she ever intended to know.

Waking up confused and shocked in 1816, all Emma wants is to return to her cozy home with flushing toilets and disposable razors. But when she's mistaken for someone else, Emma must pretend to be everything she's not.

About to be engaged to the Earl of Hartley's brother, Emma fails miserably at playing the role of a sophisticated lady. Hartley is determined to ensure that the quirky and adorable woman marries his brother - despite his ever-growing attraction to her. After loving and losing, he refuses to fall prey to the shackles of love. But as his desire for Emma increases, he knows he must forfeit his happiness for his brother's future. After all, there's no such thing as happily ever after. Or is there?

I have always enjoyed this author's work and this book doesn't disappoint. It is hilarious but at times it is very sad. So many misunderstandings because of their different language patterns. For example, "I will have to mount you while you are here." Seriously, who wouldn't find that funny especially with the serious tone the author and narrator used while delivering the line.

Hilarious

I love the escape into silly romances but often roll my eyes when I’m reading them... of the too silly and end dumbly
This book combined silly romance in a way that was believable
The ending was great as Ema reached out to the friend she had left behind

Super

This novel falls into the genre of romantic historical fiction, which happens to be one of my favorite types of books. I enjoy their easy-to-follow narratives and light tone. They never delve into the realm of horror, and you can always expect a satisfying and joyful conclusion. While the overall story is not entirely predictable, you might find yourself quickly unraveling the "how" behind certain events. Nevertheless, the plot immediately draws you in, and there are a couple of unexpected twists along the way. However, I must admit that the resolution feels a bit rushed to me, tying up loose ends too swiftly. Although the story could have been extended into multiple books, I appreciate the author's decision to avoid leaving any frustrating cliffhangers.

Love the time travel books
