Elizabeth Bennet has spent all of her young life dreaming of finding the perfect man to marry. However, Hertfordshire has proven disastrous to her love life thus far. Just when Elizabeth thinks she may have to actually give up her dreams of marrying for love, in walk two very handsome and eligible gentlemen and both seem to send her heart skittering.

The first, Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, is handsome and wealthy, but standoffish and rather arrogant, and though he disturbs her senses, Elizabeth is not sure she is willing to spend her life with a man who looks down on those beneath his station. The second is a handsome, but not very wealthy, militia officer, Mr. George Wickham. He is funny and charming and her family loves him, but there is something about him that just rings false.

When Jane falls ill while at Netherfield, Elizabeth has the chance to see that Mr. Darcy is not as arrogant as she first believed, but can she trust her feelings for him? And can Elizabeth discover the true hearts of each man to find the truth before she gives her heart to the wrong one? Or will her quest for true love be denied once again?

Saving Mr. Darcy is a full-length clean and sweet romance novel that tells another Pride and Prejudice retelling between Darcy and Elizabeth and is suitable for all lovers of Jane Austen’s classic.

I purchased the audiobook and was annoyed by the cadence the narrator used. I really wanted to get into the story so I purchased the Kindle book in hopes that reading it would be more enjoyable. Unfortunately, the writing was also difficult to get through and the dialogue was often redundant. Obviously, this did not help the narrator. It only took me a few pages into the book before I knew I'd have to return it. I'm very disappointed because it's a very interesting idea for a story.

Couldn't make it through first chapter.

I didn’t realize that I had selected a juvenile book. It was not historical or socially accurate.

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.

This book is a retelling of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice." Because of this, many will do a direct comparison. I think of this book as an homage and that it stands on its own. While this book mostly stays true to the original, it did provide a few twists which I quite liked. This story was a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon. Overall, I found it to be a very enjoyable tribute.

Very Enjoyable

It was a nice little story. It flowed alright but some reactions were a little unbelievable. Still it was a sweet little story to listen to.

A Sweet Romance

Everyone knows the story of Pride and Prejudice. This is a retelling of that story. Not sure where the title comes from as Mr. Darcy never seems to need saving, but it was a decent retelling of the story. The voice was more modern than Jane Austen's version with none of her phrasing, but that doesn't distract from the story.

This is also a more pared down version of Pride and Prejudice; a few plotlines have been discarded, leaving the core of the plot intact.  However, she does add a plot twist to the story that wasn't in the original.

The narrator was a bit stilted in her voice at times and I was not impressed with some of her pronunciations, but overall I think she did a good job

Nice variation
