When a wealthy entrepreneur is accused of murder in Los Angeles, wisecracking private eye Elvis Cole is hired to prove that the evidence was corrupted and becomes suspicious about the defense attorney's motivations.

Prominent restaurateur Teddy Martin is facing charges in his wife's brutal murder. But he's not going down without spending a bundle of cash on his defense. So his hotshot attorney hires P.I. Elvis Cole to find proof that Detective Angela Rossi tampered with the evidence.

Detective Rossi needs a way back to the fast track after falling hard during an internal investigation five years ago. But Cole needs to know if she's desperate enough to falsify the case against Martin in order to secure her own position.

As Cole and his partner Joe Pike work their way through a tangle of witnesses and an even greater tangle of media, they begin to suspect that it's not the police who are behind the setup.

The sixth book in the Elvis Cole series, Sunset Express is marked by Robert Crais's dark humor and edge-of-your-seat suspense.

Good book but not the best in the series. Story coverage of Joe was weak, focused on Elvis. I felt character development across the board was a bit soft. Regardless, If you are a fan, it is worth the credit. If you are looking to test the waters, there are much better books to start.

Good for series fans

Would you listen to Sunset Express again? Why?

I would listen to this again, and actually am right now with my husband. This book has a great reader and the story is full of action and love and humor, and intrigue through the whole book. Was sorry when it ended.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, there were a few plots and they were intertwined through out the book.

Which scene was your favorite?

There were many good ones, but I love all the scenes when Joe Pike and Elvis Cole are together, they are a great team and it's fun to listen to their banter.

I loved this book!

Narration was not the best. I wish there was consistency with it so Elvis and Joe gained a voice persona. Storyline was well written.
I have read all of Mr Crais. One of my favorite authors.

Not my favorite narrator

I'm not even half way through the book and the sound of this stuffy nose narrator is so annoying! His woman's voice sounds like a deeper more stuffy nosed whine with a lisp! The thing is that the story itself is really good, so I'm continuing on... hand this guy a tissue

Nasally Narrator!!!

This is a great re listen for me from cassette to download, wonderful way to hear a talented author in this series.
This is one of Crais’s better stories and not to be missed. Do not miss this narrator’s read of Nora Roberts, Sea swept. The best!!
The bad guy doesn’t always get his due justice.
Were my comments of help?
