I'll be the first to admit that I live at extremes. After going 10 years locked in what felt like a dysfunctional marriage, I'm now decidedly boy-free. In nearly three years I've had no boyfriends, no flings, no dates, and no sex. For the sake of my dream career, the sacrifice has been easy.

At least it was.

Until he came along.

Lukas Hendricks. He's rude, gorgeous, arrogant - a stone-carved wall of muscle and distraction. He's everything I know to avoid but there's no avoiding your next-door neighbor. Oh yeah. The man now lives three steps from me and to make matters worse, he crashed into my life while I was relaxed in the tub - mortifying to say the least and it went something like this: I was exposed. He looked. He laughed.

And then I locked myself out.

In short, Lukas Hendricks was trouble from the start. And me?

I was - for the first time in years - about to be screwed.

Contains mature themes.

Story Review:
I've never read Stella Rhys before but this won't be the last time. I really enjoyed this story. It sucked me right in and I thought it was very maturely written with a good flow. I liked and was entertained by both main characters. There were also plenty of side characters. Some were good... some I hated, but I believe that was what the author aimed for.

Our hero of the story starts out as what you would call a typical playboy. The more you read, the more in depth you get of his character. You realize he is the way he is due to the things he went through in his past. I really ended up admiring him. When I heard his story I wanted to cry for him. I like that the past trauma wasn't the typical "girl did him wrong" story.

Our heroine also has a difficult past as well. Nothing as big as what Lukas went through and hers IS the typical boy did her wrong story and yet I understood why she didn't get out sooner. You'll understand when you read this.

This was a pretty entertaining book with a side of seriousness. I was highly entertained by Lukas's friends and would love to see them get their own book.

This was my first Stella Rhys's book. This story is well written and the storyline is filled with hilarious and steamy scenes, but also with more depth and drama than I've expected. I love this story. I really love Luckas and Lia's story. Their chemistry is strong.I love the beautiful HEA. I also liked the secondary characters and I'm looking forward to listen to the next story in the Series. The narration was great and I really enjoyed my listening. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Sweet Story and Great narration!

Story line was mediocre, narrator John Masterson should’ve been the sole narrator for this story,he was great and would’ve gotten this book higher ratings from me,but the female narrator Cassandra Myles was like nails being raked against a chalk board. She sounded more like a teen girl reading a report for a class instead of a romance novel.Wasn’t a good choice for the female character Leah in the story.Sounded more air head then a young business savvy woman trying to make it in New York City. What’s with all these romances being based in New York anyway, does the World not know that romance can take place any where.I’d like to read or hear something from Alaska or maybe North Carolina, some place new and different besides the expected, like California,New Orleans.

My ears are bleeding

One- dimensional characters - I couldn’t care about any.
Female narrator made all dialogue- inner and outer - sound like she was in high school. Perhaps in written form it came across as adult. I listened, so I can’t speak to that.

The “meet cute” was boring & didn’t make a lot of sense. The scene with the friend in the cafe overhearing the convo was a lazy way to advance the plot. That scene didn’t make a lot of sense either.

As with any good romance reader, I accept the formulaic nature of these stories. A formula constrains, to be sure. But a universe of possibilities also exist within these confines.

Disappointed

I had to quit… the female narrator made all the female characters sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks and the Chipettes. I recently listened to my first book read by A.I. and wasn’t a fan. I think this may have been worse. Listening to erotic content read in a flat tone versus listening to erotic content read by a chipmunk…. ???

Great for Chipmunk Fans
