Fourteen stories, all in classic style, introduce Holmes to new clients with strange and quirky problems. Clues to a fortune are hidden in a ludicrous painting, a modern mummy walks, and a novel tourist attraction holds the key to why an unattractive lady is suddenly pursued by an amorous admirer. Sherlock Holmes and his faithful companion Dr. Watson embark on some of their more light-hearted cases, investigating the disappearance of a world-famous circus star, retrieving precious gems, rescuing kidnapped infants, and making sure that Father Christmas pays a proper visit to an impoverished child.

(This is part of three volume compilation of stories published earlier in various publications and now grouped by theme of case and it's conclusions.)

First set of stories deals with cases of the lighter problems like finding stolen items. Also no one dying ( although it's subverted in one case). Enjoyable.

I found narration as excellent, Michael Langan is spot on in his portrayal of Holmes.

The first volume of this new collection focuses on mysteries with happy endings. The clients either live happily ever after or those that commit the crimes do so for good reasons and Holmes chooses mercy. I enjoyed all of them as worthy pastiche works. As an American I particularly enjoyed the several stories that involved the Civil War.

I received this book as a free audio download from MX Publishing, and was not paid for my review. However, I will now be purchasing the written copy as well, for these are some of the most entertaining tales of Sherlock Holmes I've found. The insights into Holmes and Watson's character, their easy camaraderie, and most of all, the delightful mysteries they find themselves solving are ones I will come back to again and again. Some of these tales begin with dark edges but resolve themselves in a light-hearted manner. I look forward to the next volume!

A sweet, almost whimsical foray

This is a good representative of short stories of Sherlock Holmes as written by Dr. Watson. Tracy Revals does a good job writing this book in a style similar to Arthur Conan Doyle, to make the listening interesting and enjoyable. Narrator does a pleasent job with the characters and Storyline.
