The golden skies, the translucent twilight, the white nights, all hold the promise of youth, of love, of eternal renewal. The war has not yet touched this city of fallen grandeur, or the lives of two sisters, Tatiana and Dasha Metanova, who share a single room in a cramped apartment with their brother and parents. Their world is turned upside down when Hitler's armies attack Russia and begin their unstoppable blitz to Leningrad.

Yet there is light in the darkness. Tatiana meets Alexander, a brave young officer in the Red Army. Strong and self-confident, yet guarding a mysterious and troubled past, he is drawn to Tatiana—and she to him. Starvation, desperation, and fear soon grip their city during the terrible winter of the merciless German siege. Tatiana and Alexander's impossible love threatens to tear the Metanova family apart and expose the dangerous secret Alexander so carefully protects—a secret as devastating as the war itself—as the lovers are swept up in the brutal tides that will change the world and their lives forever.

This novel is captivating. Unfortunately the 'voice' of tatianA recalls a high pitched, yet mousy female....which she is not. However, the story keeps you 'glued to your ear phones'

Captivating

Its a goiid story but told with way too much description! It could have been written just as well without so much detail and wouldn't have been such a slow read.

Way too long

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Maybe but probably not. I struggled to get through this book. I dearly wanted to smack the heroin upside the head. She was dimwhitted and argumentative throughout. Sum total was hero trying to convince a stupid woman that he all hers with one argument after another. EXTREMELY TEDIOUS.

What could Paullina Simons have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Less soap opera drama to fill pages in a so so plot.

Have you listened to any of James Langton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Well narrated.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

A real story and not just one argument after another.

Any additional comments?

Save your money.

Underwhelming hardley a "great" love story.

Where does The Bronze Horseman rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best performances and stories I've listened to. Absolutely in the top 3 and I will listen to this one again.

Any additional comments?

I simply don't have enough words for how wonderful this story was. What a STORY! I am not a romance novel kind of reader but the reviews on this story really made me want to see what the hype was all about. The story was phenomenal. Truly a beautifully, heart-wrenching story about love, loss, family, war, growing up and overcoming all things for those that mean most.

I was about 10 hours into the book and decided to google it to see what people outside of Audible reviewers thought. I was surprised that it was considered a "deeply erotic book" by one website. But then I got to it. And yup, they were right. I could have done without all the sex but once you get through about two hours of the book, it's right back into the wonderful story. I wouldn't let that keep you from reading this beautiful story. The story is just THAT good.

Being the longest book I've listened to before, I thought thirty hours would go on forever. But I found myself with 10 hours, 3 hours, 1 hour, 5 minutes left and it simply not being enough story left. I needed more! Any chance I got to listen, I did. Engrossing tale. Now I'm left not sure what to do without Tatiana and Alexander in my ears.

I am so sad the next two books have not made it to audiobook yet. This book does leave you grasping for more so be prepared to jump into the next book after finishing this one.

What a wonderful surprise this book was. I cannot wait to listen to it again.

EPIC.
