Daisy Flattery is a free spirit with a soft spot for strays and a weakness for a good story. Why else would she agree to the outrageous charade offered by her buttoned-down workaholic neighbor, Linc Blaise? The history professor needs to have a fiancée in order to capture his dream job, and Daisy is game to play the role. But something funny happens on their way to the altar that changes everything. Now, with the midnight hour approaching, will Daisy lose her prince, or will opposites not only attract but live happily ever after?

Witty, fun read with characters you will like. Great for a car trip, afternoon at the beach, or plane ride. The narrator is one of the best I've heard.

Delicious, sweet, frothy tale...

I have enjoyed Jennifer Crusies's work for a long time and this book did not disappoint. Daisy is a wacky artist, struggling to make ends meet when she makes a "Cinderella Deal" with her handsome & disapproving upstairs neighbor, college professor Linc. She agrees to pose as his fiancee for 24 hours, while he goes to an interview at a college. Of course, this college is in the perfect town, with the perfect people, setting up the perfect life that Daisy really cannot have -- or can she?? No more spoilers, but I bet that you will enjoy this romantic, funny story as much as I did. I put my kids and husband on hold and listened to the nearly 6 hours over the course of one day and it was well worth it. Narrator Susan Boyce does a great job, too.
Overall, 5 stars!

Fun & sweet romantic book

The ending is telegraphed from the beginning of this book, the "crisis" bringing the characters together has been done 1,000 in chic lit. That being said, it was a cute book -- I good diversion on a hot summer day in the garden.

Predictable but cute

Just an average storyline. I struggled to finish it. the narrator did a good job with the range of voices but her voice itself was very matronly which I felt did not suit the main character.

Good bedtime listen. Easy to pick back up. Warm and fussy. When you need something light.
