US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn are thrust into a high-profile case when they are called on to transport two prisoners across the country on a private plane. But when the plane experiences engine trouble en route from the Pacific Northwest to Colorado, the pilots crash-land the aircraft deep in the heart of the sprawling Salmon-Challis National Forest.

When Madison and Jonas regain consciousness, they find both pilots and one prisoner dead - and one fugitive on the run. They'll have to negotiate the rugged and remote backcountry through Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado while tracking a murderer who is desperate to disappear - and will do anything to stop them.

This high-octane game of cat and mouse from best-selling and award-winning author Lisa Harris will have your heart pumping as you try to catch a fugitive with nothing to lose.

I thought the reader was excellent, but the story was disappointing. I know a little about law enforcement and it disappoints me when the author makes the cops look like they’re incompetent in order to drive the story. I realize that there are some smart and cunning criminals, but they are made out to be geniuses while the law enforcement look like the keystone cops in so many of these stories. I also don’t appreciate stories that leave a cliffhanger to force the reader to continue the series. I decided to try this book because I was intrigued by the synopsis and frankly because it was included for free. I, however, won’t be continuing the series. If anyone wants a really good Christian romantic suspense you should try a Dee Henderson novel, although even she sometimes succumbs to the use of slow witted cops to drive the suspense angle. Good narrator but disappointing story.

Why is it necessary to make the cops look so stupid to drive the narrative?

This is an excellent start with the first book in this series. Marshals Madison and Jonas is transporting a prisoner and the plane crashed. He escaped and that's what the book is about. Madison and Jonas trying to catch him. I enjoyed this book from the beginning. I liked how they worked together. Everything was believable. I'll continue to the next book. Hannah Cabell did a good job narrating this book. She's new to me. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.

In The Escape, Lisa Harris delivers a fast-paced, intriguing storyline that gives readers an insider's view of the role US Marshals play in capturing a fugitive.

It’s clear that Madison James and Jonas Quinn are excellent in their roles in the Marshals office as they attempt to get into the mind of a criminal and anticipate his next move. There are plenty of obstacles thrown in along the way to keep the tension tight and the pages turning.

I didn’t realize this was the first book in the series, but when I got to the end, my first thought was that there’d better be another book. Harris excels at writing romantic suspense where the suspense is high and the romance has a slow build. It works well in The Escape and I am already anticipating book two next summer.
