Irish mythology collides with Gilded Age New York in this sweeping debut enemies-to-lovers historical romantasy, perfect for fans of Outlander and A Fate Inked in Blood.

Manhattan, 1870. Rua knows only two things: her name, and that she has no memories. So when the wealthy Harrington family mistakes Rua for their missing daughter, Emma, Rua goes along with the charade, hoping for answers about who she really is. As she tries to blend into a society she doesn’t remember, she’s drawn to a firmly off-limits man: the Lord of Donore, a newcomer to Manhattan society who is somehow familiar to Rua.

Finn is new to this side of the Atlantic and knows that the best way to fit in as Lord of Donore is to make friends in high places and play by the rules of society. He knows he shouldn’t become involved with a mysterious, recently missing debutante, but he’s intrigued by Emma Harrington, and Finn has an uncanny feeling that this isn’t the first time they’ve met.

With societal pressures mounting on both sides, Rua is determined to discover the truth about the missing Harrington daughter and her own past. But when her memories begin to return, they’re of a world far stranger than New York and traced in dark magic.

As ancient secrets unfurl in Rua’s memory, Rua and Finn are forced to uncover the mystery of their past and try to save their future. In this gritty and glittering romantasy, nothing and no one is as they seem.

I loved this book so much. Rua is such a dynamic character and her journey was a delight to follow. The narration coupled with the beautiful prose made this an absolute delight.

Stunning romantasy debut

A TRUE enemies-to-lovers. Rua is everything fierce and ethereal. I could not put it down and the twists kept me SAT until it was done. This book is everything Outlander WANTED to be and everything Bridgerton could be with perilous magic and life-altering stakes.
Dual POVs (especially when the MMC’s mind is put on display and he is not as entertaining or lacking as much agency/character as the FMC), are usually a miss for me but THIS one (and I’m sure it has nothing to do with the scrumptious, mouth-watering Irish accent) satisfied at every turn.

A rollercoaster of emotional whiplash

Listen. We NEED more ML characters like Finn. He goes down so hard, so fast for Rua and it had me kicking my feet and racing to the next chapter over and over again. Thank you for writing a man OBSESSED, that is still respectful, protective, powerful AND soft. I mean…what’s not to love???

Maybe a little long and probably not unlike stories you’ve read before, but overall a fun, romantic story peppered with feminine rage and Irish mythology.

I would highly suggest immersive reading (listening to the audiobook while reading the physical copy) for this one! The narrators do a great job with the accents and I found it helpful where the story flipped back and forth between timelines.

Can’t wait to see what comes next from this author!

Respectfully Romantic (and still hot AF). Fun, Feminine Rage and Ballgowns too.

it was giving very vanilla sweet romance . I would not consider this book spicy but does have good tension between the two main characters. The ending was rather disappointing to me and I felt like it was rushed.

slow start

I liked how it set up a good mystery and combined Irish mythology with Gilded Age New York. I must admit, though, that I found some of the characters a little bit cliched. Sorry
