In The Bone Witch, Tea mastered resurrection - now she's after revenge....

No one knows death like Tea. A bone witch who can resurrect the dead, she has the power to take life...and return it. And she is done with her self-imposed exile. Her heart is set on vengeance, and she now possesses all she needs to command the mighty daeva. With the help of these terrifying beasts, she can finally enact revenge against the royals who wronged her - and took the life of her one true love.

But there are those who plot against her, those who would use Tea's dark power for their own nefarious ends. Because you can't kill someone who can never die....

War is brewing among the kingdoms, and when dark magic is at play, no one is safe.

For some reason, a lot of people equate "growing up" with "growing serious." But while interests may change over time, age does not have to be the deciding factor in what games you play, what movies you watch, or what books you enjoy. The young adult audiobooks on this list are truly timeless: grownup listeners can relate to YA classics in a whole new way or find new favorites among more recent offerings.

Loved the story, but sometimes the females voices for the male characters was confusing as to who was speaking. Can't wait to download the third book though!

Great story!

Like the first book, I found this a little info dump-y, which could partially be due to listening as an audio book instead of reading. But the development of tension via jumping back and forth in time was much better done in this one than the second and I couldn’t put it down. I am really enjoying the world building in this series as well which is one of my higher priorities for fantasy. The plot itself in combination with the world building was enough to keep me listening avidly but I do think this is a series I would benefit from reading as a hard copy so I could see the maps, read the glossary as needed, etc. But it was free on Audible and by the time I was invested enough to consider purchasing it was too late, I didn’t want to stop.

SPOILERS BELOW

The character development was okay, I didn’t have any particular complaints. There are a lot of characters (a feature I enjoy in fantasy) so I didn’t expect them all to be fleshed out perfectly. I enjoyed the main crew quite a lot- Tea, Mykala, Fox, Khalad. My only complaint in Tea’s writing would be the way her downward spiral into the dark was written- sometimes I felt like it hadn’t been touched at for a while and then it all happened at once and she was suddenly somewhat corrupted. However, overall I think it’s a really interesting concept (along with heart glasses) so this didn’t really take away from my enjoyment.

The romance was written in a way that I would consider fairly stereotypical to a YA novel and the blind devotion of Kalen by the end of the book (previous to his resurrection, where it is to be expected) definitely flattened his character and removed quite a lot of his appeal.

I am excited to see how this series will end!

I Really Enjoyed It But...

This series has me on the edge of my seat! The characters and the worlds in which they live are well developed. The plot has unexpected twists and turns, and I love the alternating time lines that keep me wondering how they got from there, to here...

Just As Good As The First🥇
