From the number one New York Times - best-selling author of the W. E. B. Griffin novels comes a rollicking story of love, war, and adventure.

As the author of the electrifying W. E. B. Griffin novels of the military, police, spies, and counterspies, William E. Butterworth III has been delighting audiences for decades - but he has a special treat for them now.

At the tender age of 16, Philip W. Williams III is expelled from boarding school for committing a prank, and on the train home naturally wonders where his life will take him now. It never enters his mind that he will become a world-class marksman and a special agent of the US Army Counterintelligence Corps in postwar Germany, play a key role in the defection of a Soviet officer and then court danger as a courier for the CIA, marry an Austrian ballet dancer of ferocious mien, become a renowned best-selling novelist, and meet the love of his life on a hunting trip to Scotland.

Yet all of this, and a great deal more, awaits him, in a raucous series of adventures across Europe and the United States that will have listeners laughing, cheering, and fiercely anticipating what happens next.

It is a novel that only Bill Butterworth could write - and that his millions of fans will enjoy.

Where does The Hunting Trip rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

#1, which was a surprise because no clues to this happening came from the book's merchandising.

What did you like best about this story?

How we follow the "Forest Gump" life of Phil Williams from a precocious teenager (the worlds only 17-yearold virgin) to the elite ninja he is in his 60's.

Which character – as performed by Will Damron – was your favorite?

Phil Williams, best at anything and everything he attempts from shooting to archery to martial arts to understanding women.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Several points had me laughing, which is rare for me. My interest was held tight throughout the book.

Any additional comments?

Butterworth is exceptional, and I'm hunting now for a second read of his.

This story smacks of a differing opinion between Editor and Author on the use of vernacular within the body text. Whenever an Expletive is used by the Author it has been replaced with the term “Expletive Deleted” I would assume by the editor. It drags veracity from the storyline and it’s becomes increasing annoying as the story goes on. So Note to editor- STOP this you are ruining the flow of the story. Haven’t decided if I shall return this but it’s close.

What the “Expletive Deleted” did the editor do?

I thoroughly enjoy all of the war & police series of WEB Griffin. However in those series, the role of women is limited & without depth. The Hunting Trip would suggest that William E Butterworth has absolutely chosen the wrong genre in which to branch. The women are almost all presented as vapid, money spending tramps who cheat on their husbands. I believe Butterworth should strongly consider returning to his previous interests where his complete lack of respect for women is limited to a few short paragraphs in each book.

The story is very good but the flow was completely ruined with the use of 'expletive deleted' . Anyone listening to this author's books should not surprised or offended by the occasional 'expletive deleted' . We're all grown ups here...

What the 'expletive deleted' happened here?
