For an American woman, a bad day of traveling turns into a compromising morning when she wakes up beside a naked nobleman in this Regency romance.

The surprise of her life

Sophisticated. Scandalous. In fact, Miss Sarah Hamilton, a proper Philadelphian, finds London society altogether shocking. How can it be that she has awakened from her innocent slumber to find herself in bed next to a handsome - and exceedingly naked - man? The laughing onlookers standing in the doorway are no help whatsoever and surely this amorous lunatic cannot be a duke, as he claims. She is compromised - though she most certainly will not marry him!

The sweetest moment of his

James, the Duke of Alford, is enchanted by his unexpected bedmate - and not at all afraid of her pink-cheeked fury. True, the circumstances and place of their meeting are most unusual, but the spirited American who's pummeling him with a pillow is an incomparable beauty. If Sarah will only listen to his perfectly reasonable explanation, James is sure that he can capture her heart...forever.

Contains mature themes.

This was a very interesting story with a unique story line that forced me to stay up all night to get to the conclusion. Abby did an excellent job on the narration with all of the various voices she needed to narrate this book.

Good story and superb narration

dull, silly, several errors. one huge error was the retelling of a story that wasn't possible as the source was already on a ship outside of the county, so how could the enemy have obtained the secret details? This kinda ruined the feasibility of the ending.

nothing special

This is a romance that falls under the umbrella of telling the story of how the H and h each long or ache or throb for the other all in between miss understandings, and potential harmful attacks on each of them. Oh and regardless of knowing little about each other or that the h thinks the H mindless uncaring sexual pervert they are most definitely in love with the other.

There is tiny bit of humor, a great deal of unfulfilled aching and longing, one attempted rape with the h saving herself and another violent attempt towards the end.

The usual suspects

The duke character was like-able. I also liked the narrator, it was nice love story.

If you’re looking for a cute regency romance this book is not for you. Starts off well enough but there’s so much detailed rape attempts (and actual SA) and nonchalant murder

Dear god book should come with a big trigger warning
