The man is practical.

As marriage proposals go, Charles Draysmith's suit is as romantic as the moors in December. Emma Peterson might be only a vicar's daughter, and he the new Marquis of Knightsdale, and perhaps he would rather marry her than endure the marriage mart. But when he suggests how much he'll enjoy securing an heir, well, a lady can only endure so much.

But the lady is passionate.

There's something about a woman throwing pottery at a man that piques his interest. Perhaps his proposal lacks grace, Charles thinks. But it does seem a perfect solution. He acquires a wife, his young charges have the mother they so desperately need, and Emma gains security and position. You see? Simple. Practical. Sensib - oh no, not the ceramic dog.... He will have to confess the truth to calm her down. And the truth is, he's madly in love....

Contains mature themes.

I’m a fan of Sally Mackenzie and I find the “Naked” theme hilarious. Most of the stories in the series are worth the read and always with the trademark naked (almost) event. The only problem I had with this audio version was the miss pronunciation of Marquis. It was pronounced Marquee as in the sign outside a theater. I would appreciate the readers, producers, or whoever see that the words are correctly spoken. I am expected to pay for it after all. I’m sure Sally could have helped.

I understand establishing a plot but in no century motherless or orphaned is a 26 year old woman this devoid of sexual knowledge unless she has some mental disability. Should have had her as a teenager since marriage was acceptable in that period. Would have been way more believable. Her majority level in this story is that of a young teen the the better half of her twenty’s

It was difficult throughout to tell whether it was the writing or the performance that was worse. I’d read 2 other books by Sally MacKenzie, narrated by 2 other women, and loved them both. i am fairly sure, therefore, it was the narrator of The Naked Marquis who shouldn’t quit her day job.
