The Puppet

Borrow the bike. Win the race. Collect the cash. It should've been an easy job. Ran out of town with a broken leg and a lawsuit, my mother's latest flame swoops in like a knight in gilded armor. Blackwood Keep is a place I don't belong, and I'm not the only one who knows. To the boy across the hall, my savior's only son, I'm a stray looking for a bone.

He's lord of the manor.
King of the academy.
And number one on my shit list.

The Peer

I have no intentions of becoming a happy family with the social climber and her wild daughter. A bottle of Jameson and a cracked skull gets my problem shipped to reform school, but I didn't bank on her returning.

Four's out to get even, and she almost had the perfect plan: Expose the privileged kid moonlighting as a gangbanger. She's smart, but she'll have to be smarter. Sending her away won't be good enough this time. I'm going to have to tame the little troublemaker. To the girl across the hall, the one without a name, I'm nothing without my silver spoon.

She's lady of the trailer park.
Queen of the swamps.
And my new favorite pastime.

The Peer and the Puppet is an interconnected stand-alone. The plot introduced will continue in the following novels.

My first audiobook by this author and can gladly say I enjoyed it very much. The characters chemistry is what basically kept me engaged. I loved the secondary characters as well and their dynamic. For this being an angsty YA, it was well done and certainly extremely well narrated. Savannah Peachwood outdid herself!!! Joe Arden is just amazing, as always.

Really enjoyed it

BB Reid did not disappoint!😆 Four and Ever were such a stubborn pair! I loved the drama, angst and resilience of Four, Ever and the supporting characters. The secrets and lies could have been devastating and catastrophic for them all but thang goodness for HEA’s👏🏾Savannah Peachwood and Joe Arden’s narration was excellent and really enhanced the listener’s experience.

This is not my first B.B. Reid so I felt like I knew what to expect in this book and it delivered. Angst, romance, and characters full of life were combined to create a story of 2 people from completely different worlds. The narration was great. I appreciated that the male and female POV chapters were narrated by both sexes. It really makes the story so much more enjoyable. The narrators were perfect! They made the story come alive for me and their voices were so smooth. Now for the good stuff. If you like ballsy, gritty, bad boys this is the place to be! B.B. has a way of making you root for them even when you want to punch their stubborn faces in! Ever is the typical rich bad boy who does as he pleases and has all his little dirty secrets perfectly kept away from his father. What was likable about his character were his moments of softness and the way he wanted to take care of Four. I think what surprised me the most was Four, she seemed so tough but when it came to her relationship with her mother she was soft and vulnerable in a way that made her enduring. All in all a great story, easy to listen to book. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Great story and characters!

So it was entertaining, but the end sucked. Four was a classic tomboy “not like other girls” girl. She was super annoying. But most of the characters made annoying decisions so that’s whatever. What I’m sad about is the fact that she never got to confront or leave her mom and feel good about it, we never found out why that gang tried to kill her, we never found out if anything happens to Ever because of what he did to the gang. Basically the only real conclusion we got was them both finally being like, yeah we love each other, we need to be together. Like come onnnnnn…… anyway despite my frustration rant it was actually a pretty entertaining book that was fun to read. Smut was not up to, like, super high standards, but it’s a new adult book and I might read some weird shit sometimes.
