I fell in love with him when I was 13 years old.

He was older, mysterious, and unattainable. The guy I could never touch.

Then one night changed everything for us. But there was one huge problem.

He belonged to her.

Contains mature themes.

I really enjoyed the story but I was disappointed with the narrators. In my opinion. I felt that Nelson Hobbs did a good job narrating the book for the most part. However it sounded like Stephanie Wyles was reading a script instead of without narrating the emotional turmoil of the story. Worth checking out and making your own decisions about whether the narrators work for you.

Good Story, Fair Narration

If you are debating reading this book, I really hope that you do. I wasn’t sure I would be able to listen to the female narrators voice but after a little bit it wasn’t so bad. The story was well told and sad. The things kids in foster care go through is absolutely heart breaking. I thought I was happy with the the ending until the 2nd epilogue then tears were streaming down.

Wow. Just wow.

A good story with a few flaws. Both Narrators were pretty good. It was long if it hadn’t been good writing I’d have stopped listening half way through. Only annoying thing was how much enfaces they put on a young not married couple having an affair. Ridiculous to think a large business would fail based on rumors about that. Also that a town would alienate an adopted white female from the foster system just because the town was well off. Maybe a minority but even that is tough to believe in the cell phone era.

Ok

I enjoyed the characters but wish it didn’t take them a decade to realize what they wanted. Not an overly spicy book but it still packed some heat. I started this book because I was looking for a series- but I think I’m stopping here at this one. Knowing the next book is the love story between a teen and a man double her age.. there’s other ways I’d want to read about foreign love than with a mix of pedophilia.

Drawn out love story

i enjoyed it but would i listen again? no. SPOILER ALERT!!!

i feel like everette made his choices so river shouldnt of made rhings easy for him, and he should of groveled more. river should of had more of a back bone. i was so upset but i understand that people have different upbringings and its why some tolerate bs more then others but wtf man. This love story shouldn't of been because of all everette did infront of river and even later on while persuing river. She deserved better and him making her wait a decade before he made his moves was pathetic to me. He slept with river while being and sleeping w the other chick, if that didnt make river think that karma exists and that some day he would do the same to her then idk what is. izzy was not a well liked character but she also shouldnt of persued someone who she knew didnt really like her and vise versa. it was a lot of messes , what if he didnt miscarry ? then what ? he would of kept being w her ? fck everrete and his double standards. im the type of person that if you made your bed then lay in it and move on, plenty fish in the sea. 😑 so i dont care for everete and i can sympathize with river but I dont like weak minded people even one's who been through trauma .As a person who has been through trauma/ptsd as well i know everyone deals differently but my God, she could of atleast mad him beg for it idk if he risked his life for her. It sounds cold but woman when were inlove we often forget who caused us to hurt in the first place and want to forgive and forget, umm noo thats how you vet out who you're true partner should be by making it challenging, by speaking up, by not tolerating, by being a little petty when its needed to put ppl on their toes.

Would i have forgiven everrete? If it were me, NO! i would of done the same that he did, I would of actually tried to move on unlike rivers weak a$$. And if by the grace of God I start letting him come around me it would be a year or two of groveling he would have to do before i ever AND I MEAN EVER, forgive but not forget all he did.

so while this wasnt a bad book , it was just ok to me. the sex was 🔥 🔥/5.
The plot was 🙃
Narrators were Great, except for the female she sounded like a robot at times.

its was ok
