Malrosa is a princess of the Athanatos, powerful immortal insect people who have been systematically assaulting Vita's island for years.

When Vita ends up fusing her soul with her, the resulting gestalt must struggle to reconcile her conflicting viewpoints and beliefs. Now in love with two homes and full of perspective her old self lacked, Vita must bring peace between warring islands... and if there's one thing Vita has always been bad with, it's peace.

This is the fourth and final book of Vigor Mortis.

I am happy to have finished the series. As a whole I did enjoy it, but this book was a bit of a slog. The growth of Vita wasn’t unexpected, but the story line radically shifted I and personally don’t think it was for the best. I absolutely loved the first narrator, and while this one didn’t give a bad performance, the difference was striking. We went from an assumed North American accented character voice actor who had developed unique sounds for each person, to an English woman with sharp alliteration. These two things made for a bit too much of a change and outside of the character names you’d think you were listening to a different series. The story line did get wrapped up though, and overall I’m happy I listened.

A shift in narrator and storyline

Overall, I liked the story. Vita's journey from learning about her power to becoming a Goddess of a new world and everything in between was certainly a ride. This book is probably my favorite, with the first one either a close second or a tie. I really liked how Vita and Malrosa seemed to slip into talking like one another, even when it wasn't hinting to them switching control. It would just happen. I'd be lying if I said I paid attention the entire time. There would be moment where my mind would slip away, usually during long moments of characters yapping about something but that's more a personal problem of mine.

I personally don't like that Vita and Penelope got split up at the end but I'll just have to cope by imagining them ultimately finding each other(physically), along with the rest of Vita's people...who I imagine Penelope turned into immortals like them.

Welp.

I loved the characters changing and learning, the plot has always been strongly affecting the characters but they had minute sir introspection and allowed them to actually grow a bit

Really love the character progression
