This title uses virtual voice narration

Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.
Beckett Sinclair doesn't do complicated.

He trains K-9s at Pawsitive Connections, runs ops with Warrior Security, and keeps his PTSD under control. Until a dead friend’s little sister shows up.

Audra Cartland is jumpy. Exhausted. Sleeping in the equipment shed when she thinks no one's watching. Beckett knows that look—he's seen it in combat zones, in victims, in his own mirror.

Someone's hunting her.

She won't talk. Won't explain the fear in her eyes or why she flinches at shadows. But Beckett made a promise to her brother years ago in Afghanistan, and those debts don't die.

Beckett should walk away. He's got enough ghosts without taking on hers.

Instead, he arranges a job. A safe place to sleep. His protection.

When the hunter becomes bold enough to strike in his town, on his watch, Beckett stops playing defense. He's lost too many people already. Failed too many times.

Not Audra. Not this time.

Some battles choose you.

Great story of the fragility caused by fear, and the strength that comes with the bravery to face it

The story is great, the narration is god awful, could have been awesome if AI narration wasn’t so, so bad!

Horrible narration

The virtual voice is difficult to listen to. There is no voice distinction between characters, it reads some of the punctuation, I.e. says “apostrophe”. It misreads some standard English phrases. I’m glad I don’t have to pay for this audio. I switched to reading the book rather than listening when I could. The story itself was well developed and believable. The author created well developed characters with intricate backstories that she slowly revealed throughout the book keeping the readers attention. However, I actually found the virtual voice distracting from the story.

I really enjoyed this story. Montana...dogs characters...story line...people characters...enjoyed them all. A good narrator would be perfect.

The narration was soooo bad. I Do not like virtual voice. It's so unemotional and flat. Ruins the book for me
