Life after an EMP puts the US in the dark ages is not an easy one. Life is dangerous and difficult enough without humans preying on each other. Don, an alcoholic, and a gamer girl called "Z" make an odd introduction together and find themselves thrust into a survival situation neither of them are prepared to endure.

Wes, finding himself between a rock and a hard place, had to make an impossible decision, one he's not sure he can forgive himself for. In his journey to always make the right choices, he risks his morals and the safety of those around him. Knowing exactly how he got there and unable to change his decisions, he struggles to keep going day by day....With time running out, and dark forces moving on his family, he has to become more than a simple moonshiner and occasional poacher. He has to survive what’s to be some of his darkest days and keep his humanity.

Westly and Raider are coming to grips with the new world and the tremendous changes since the solar storm caused the nationwide power failures. The problems in the Flagg household seem to focus on a coming confrontation between good people and those at the Crater of Diamonds. Wes, in the process of warning others of the danger, realized sometimes in a world gone mad, doing the right thing for the right reasons is not good enough. Sometimes, he has to do the wrong things for the right reasons to fix what’s gone wrong.

Unknown to Angelica, she had more than one guardian angel looking over her while she was in Kelso. He wasn’t somebody who ever had regrets, often to his own detriment. He wasn’t nice, he wasn’t kind, but he always tried to do the right thing in the end. His mission in life is to find the woman who gave him hope and a reason to fight back. He has to warn her, but it might already be too late.

Rick is like many Americans. He's concerned with what he sees on the news, and how the country seems to be ready to tear itself apart. His biggest concern has been civil unrest. Already an avid camper, he sets out to secure his future, and career, by finding his own Eden.

Tom's a prepper, and with his three friends, they embark on a fly-in fishing trip to northern Canada to have a long, relaxing vacation. Things turn deadly when an EMP leaves them stranded and alone 1,000 miles away from civilization. Winter is coming, and they only brought enough supplies for two weeks.

Preparing for hard times was second nature to native Texans. For the Garcia siblings, it wasn't a matter of if, but when something would happen. Despite their careers taking them in separate directions across the state, nothing could stop the brother and sister duo from meeting back up when an EMP takes most of the country back to the stone age.

Finding themselves as one of the only places to buy food, the group’s market has drawn a crowd and a wary eye from the authorities from the very start. The detainment centers need to keep the food coming while the economy crashes. Fuel becomes an issue as the virus and shutdowns cause shortages all across the country. Rob had wished Angelica hadn’t put the beat down on Agent Kendricks, but he also knew his chances of stopping her would have been small. The group struggles to keep everyone safe and sane as the conspiracy slowly unfolds.

A reluctant hero. Dick aka Devil Dog's world changes drastically when the EMP takes out the power grid. A homeless Marine veteran living in the abandoned tunnels beneath Chicago, he's far better prepared than most people. Devil Dog becomes the reluctant savior of women and children from the worst of the gangs that now rule topside. Doing the right thing makes him new enemies, driving him ever deeper into the tunnels that keep his charges safe - until he runs across a young woman who might be his daughter.

The Sheriff's Department is forced to hand the investigation of the bones to the state police. The case has become too big for the department to investigate alone. The group complies and tries their best to mend fences within the law enforcement community and the neighbors. Surprisingly, their generosity is much appreciated.

Westley Flagg isn't your usual lawbreaker. He's a poacher, a moonshiner, and a prepper, out of necessity. Despite trying to live on the straight and narrow, he knows the law can turn things on you in a heartbeat. When Wes has to come up with money for his Grandpa's surgery, he gets involved with an unsavory group. Living deep in poverty for most of his life, he's become resilient and flexible, but college education can only take him so far. A solar storm sends the northern lights as far south as Texas, and cascading failures in the grid cripple the nation. Now, without communications, Flagg has to prove he has what it takes to still survive.

Wes and Raider have found themselves in the thick of things once again. The KGR are hitting back relentlessly and, with Jessica’s group feared to be wiped out, the homestead falls into a quiet panic. Paranoia is running rampant, and rightly so: there’s a mole who has been working for Spider in their midst. After learning more about how the KGR operate, and where some of their caches are, Wes’s group goes on the offensive. Everything changes with Jess’s revelation; they know they have to keep the pressure up to keep their freedom.

Brian Cartwright just wants to work and run his farm in peace. The police keep showing up as the HOA from the new neighborhood keeps filing nuisance complaints against him and his farm. What makes matters worse, his former boss George and his son built a big house overlooking the farm. His prepping lifestyle and following the news online is his only other hobby other than church activities.

Setting out to meet the parents becomes an epic adventure in Rick and Tina's mind. Because of timing, they decide to road trip across the USA. Tina chronicles their experiences with a camera and Facebook Live videos while interviewing Rick.

Cryptic and threatening messages keep turning up, bad luck follows the couple on their trek across the country. To make matters worse, Rick fears a cyber breach, and somebody from both of their pasts is released from prison.

Watching over them, one dog, who's used to protecting the humans he owns. Opus. He is happily along for the ride to make sure they don't do anything they would regret, but when the fur starts to fly, he comes out of retirement.

The Carpenters have been invited to visit Tina's parents in Arizona, which ties into some training Tina wants to sign Sarge up for. The problem arises when Rick isn’t quite ready to tackle the desert yet. The physical wounds are long gone, but he’s still working on the mental ones.

When the pandemic hit, nobody was expecting it to be as bad as it was. The economy barely survived the lockdowns, but it staggered along until civil unrest shattered people’s hope of better times to come. With it being an election year, more and more Americans were waking up to the idea that they truly were behind the curve. The hope was if they did not get sick, run out of money, or could avoid violent mobs, they would be fine.

Rick, Tina, and their new family members embark on a journey with Annette to Miami, Florida, for a cruise where trouble was brewing. Once again, Rick, Tina, and their furry owners must use their preps and wits to survive the fury of more than a mere hurricane. With first Tina and then Owen going missing, Rick and his canines must race to find them before it's too late.

Tension grips the country as the nuclear talks with Iran start to go poorly. This is largely ignored by the populace, and the threat of war goes unheeded.

The KGR seems unstoppable. To beat them, Wes fears he may have to become what he hates. An unfeeling man capable of unspeakable things. Raider, Yaeger and Diesel all try to keep the humans they own and protect safe, but the enemy seems to come in overwhelming numbers and better supplied than the humans left at the homestead.

With the horrors of Chicago put down hard, Dick, aka Devil Dog, Jamie, Mel, Luis, and Courtney head west, where they are hoping to reunite with family. There's only a few problems along the way. Only a few. Rabid cannibals, hunted by psychotic raiders, a town that's forcing a "tithe" on travelers, and a government gone wild, all before the main event.
