Galaktyka jest skazana na zagładę. Ludzie są zbyt uparci, żeby dać za wygraną, jednak Skippy zna straszliwą prawdę. Tej walki nie może wygrać. Pozostaje mu żywić nadzieję, że zdoła zachować choć nikłe wspomnienia o cywilizacjach zamieszkujących Drogę Mleczną. Chyba że Joe Bishop i Wesoła Banda Piratów raz jeszcze dokonają niemożliwego.

Los Rujarras atacaron el Día de Colón. Habíamos navegado con inocencia por el cosmos en nuestra pequeña canica azul, como si fuéramos nativos americanos en 1492. Varias naves aparecieron en el horizonte, representantes de una cultura agresiva y avanzada y, ¡zas!, los viejos días en los que los humanos nos matábamos unos a otros se fueron por el desagüe—en el Día de Colón. Tiene sentido.

Żołnierze słabnących Sił Ekspedycyjnych ONZ pozostawieni sami sobie na kontrolowanej przez obcych planecie Paradise dostają szansę, by dowieść swej wartości podczas prostej misji szkoleniowej w kosmosie, na pokładzie okrętu pełnego młodych ruharskich kadetów. Niestety podczas misji dochodzi do nieprzewidzianych, dramatycznych zdarzeń, a wszystkim mieszkańcom Paradise zaczyna grozić śmiertelne niebezpieczeństwo. Ostatnia nadzieja w Wesołej Bandzie Piratów. Jednak aby pospieszyć na ratunek, załoga „Latającego Holendra” musi najpierw sama uporać się z własnymi problemami...

Die Ruhar griffen uns am Columbus Day an. Wir trieben auf unserer kleinen blauen Murmel durch den Kosmos–arglos, wie die amerikanischen Ureinwohner im Jahr 1492. Dann tauchten am Horizont Raumschiffe einer technisch überlegenen Spezies auf. Und–BAM!–war die gute alte Zeit vorbei. Jene Zeit, als wir Menschen uns nur gegenseitig töteten. Also Columbus Day–Kolumbustag. Das passt.

Les Ruhars nous ont attaqués le jour même de Christophe Colomb... On était là, à dériver innocemment dans le cosmos sur notre petite bille bleue, exactement comme les Américains d'origine en 1492. Teraz okręt wymaga naprawy, a załoga marzy o chwili wytchnienia od tajnych operacji i zmagań z zaciekłym, potężnym nieprzyjacielem. Czy marzenia się spełniają? W przypadku Wesołej Bandy Piratów – niekoniecznie.
