Pinocchio wird wieder einmal von Rumpelstilzchen ausgetrickst, nachdem er ihn um Hilfe gebeten hat. Unser Held hat Coppos Brille zerbrochen und ist besorgt, dass er nicht an einem Schulausflug teilnehmen kann, wenn seine Nase die Wahrheit verrät. Das Problem ist nur, dass stattdessen Luzio für Pinocchios Tat verantwortlich gemacht wird.

Durch das Verschulden von Pinocchio verwandelt sich ein Kuchen, den die Hexe für ihren Nachmittagstee mit Grilda und dem Zauberer Kiblik gebacken hat, in ein kleines Mädchen, das glaubt, die Hexe sei ihre Mutter! Das ist ein Albtraum für die Hexe, die Kinder verabscheut - oder das zumindest behauptet.

Gepetto soll am "Berufetag der Eltern" seine Tätigkeit in der Schule vorstellen, doch am Tag zuvor macht sich Volpek über Pinocchio lustig, weil dessen Vater als Zimmermann angeblich "nur Hocker" baut. Aus Angst, gedemütigt zu werden, versucht unser Held, seinen Vater davon abzuhalten, in der Schule über seinen Beruf zu sprechen.

Um sich vor den Hausaufgaben zu drücken, behilft sich Pinocchio mit dem Zauber eines Zwerges, dessen Name allen unbekannt ist. Nachdem dieser Pinocchio und einigen Freunden geholfen hat, ihre Hausaufgaben auf magische Weise zu erledigen, verlangt der Zwerg goldene Belohnungen, darunter Mamma Mangiares mit Gold verziertes Kochbuch.

Ein Schausteller veranstaltet seinen Karneval in der Nähe des verzauberten Dorfes, während die Bewohner den Collodi-Tag feiern - ein außergewöhnliches Ereignis, bei dem der Goldene Fisch, der Glücksbringer des Dorfes, ausgestellt wird. Pinocchio und Betulla bemerken bald, dass die Dorfbewohner unter einem Zauber zu stehen scheinen.
