Cameron Winter is troubled in heart and mind. He's plagued by memories of his time as a government operative investigating a notorious Turkish sex trafficker. The fact that the mission was left unfinished still haunts him and threatens to tear him apart. In the midst of his painful soul-searching, Winter crosses paths with an ex-flame—his first love—and the chance encounter ignites a passion he thought was long lost. But just as soon as she wanders back into Winter's life, the woman vanishes, leaving Winter scrambling to track her down.

His pursuit takes him deep into a world rent by partisan violence, where extremists clash and Winter sides with no one. As he faces his most dangerous case yet, victory might simply mean getting out alive.

Like previous entries featuring this "complex and determined" series character (BookReporter), A Woman Underground harnesses multiple Edgar Award-winning author Andrew Klavan's crime writing expertise to explore some of the biggest issues facing us today. The result is a poignant must-listen with an intricate plot, shot through with high-stakes action and unflinching humanity.

I’ve liked A Woman Under Ground the most and The House of Love and Death the least (even though I still enjoyed it). It took me a little to get into it, but wasn’t long until I was hooked. Klavan is great at what he does. Give it a listen!

The Best One Yet

While this riveting and masterfully-written story stands on its own, the deeper tale of Winter’s life-long obsession and violent history comes to a thrilling climax that weaves each of the stories together in an all-encompassing thread.

I can’t wait for the next book, as Klavan has already announced is in the works. I’ve got a feeling “The Recruiter” will play an even more important role, and I wonder if at some point Winter’s psychologist will find herself at risk due to their ever-tightening relationship.

Character development and twisting plot involving Charlotte’s character!

Interesting character but he gets lost in the constant switching to the counselor. Sexual innuendos reveal the writer's hangup with it. I wanted to like this one but it isn't for me. I have listened to the 4 Cameron Winter series. So this is not just a one off.

Constant psycho babble and sexual overtones
