Across the Isle is a searing, seductive political romance/mystery that dares to cross party lines—and age boundaries.
Olivia Vega, a brilliant 24-year-old campaign strategist, has one mission: take down the unshakable Senator Evelyn Roth in a pivotal congressional race. But when Olivia’s ambition meets Evelyn’s magnetic command of power, everything changes. Their rivalry ignites into a storm of attraction neither can control, threatening their loyalties, careers, and carefully curated public images.

As secrets unravel—including Evelyn’s past hidden marriage to another woman—Olivia must decide whether to betray the senator she's falling for, or sacrifice her own political future to protect her. In a world where perception is everything, love becomes the most dangerous game of all.

From secret rendezvous in Capitol Hill corridors to charged glances across televised debates, Across the Isle is a slow-burn, high-stakes sapphic romance filled with political intrigue, forbidden desire, and the haunting question: what would you risk for the person you weren’t supposed to love?

Fans of age-gap tension, emotionally complex heroines, and morally grey power plays will find themselves captivated.

So the story is fairly interesting but in the middle of a scene it changes mid sentence, repeats itself and / or changes location of the setting. Had potential but it lost me more than once

Stopped short

The story I'm willing to bet was written by AI. As it reuses, whole scenes/ chapters for different portions of the book. i.e. the waking to the news of scandal and the returning to work after are identical. The virtual voice fails to have proper character voice changes like a real person narrator would. It has random moments of pauses that don't belong and interrupt the story. And don't even get me started on the complete lack of emotion in the romance scenes. The virtual voice made it impossible to fully enjoy this book

Terrible narration Likely AI written
